Default what do the pro's use???

what do they use to get such a good clean? is it all technique???

example - collected my car from VW after it hade been serviced and valeted, now the car almost looked a different colour it was so shiny, the alloys were gleaming, paintwork was stunning!! thouroughly impressed and amazed.

now, i have ££££'s worth of AutoGlym stuff, almost some cream or potion for every concieveable situation AND a lot of enthusiasm and effort on my part - i have jet washer, mini dyson.....the lot.

but can i get the same results.....no way!

is there something i am missing here or am i buying the wrong products or what??

some inside advice from a pro valeter or accomplished enthusiast required here, PLEASE offer me some advise.

      thanks in advance.

Could be as simple as decent coat of wax or I find an application of Zaino Z2 Pro sealant will make it shine really well. I've been impressed with Dodo Supernatural as a wax. It might be worth having a go with some quality detailing spray as it has a little wax in it. All you do is wash and dry the car as usual, and then spritz some on and wipe off. Simples! People are raving about the Red Mist Protection Detailer - mental durability. insane shine. from the mother of all quick detailers.

This was my friends car after paint correction with a coat of Dodo Juice Supernatural. Awesome stuff.

      Alright ubermass,

you've opened a can of worms here mate. This is a huge field and and people prefer different products etc. I highl recommend you have a look through detailing world and clean your car forums (to name 2!) for extra help and advice.

To be honest I don't let dealers touch my car as I know there wash technique is awful and often the products they use are cheap and industrial strength.

Since getting bitten by the detailing bug I have spent a fortune, read a shed load and still have much to learn off people like Jonny @ Pure Detail who work with great techniques and new products all the time.

      Points to consider;

      - research the 2 bucket wash method
      - look at buying a pressure washer and snow foam lance
      - chuck out your sponge and buy a wool wash mitt (much safer when used properly and causes much less scratches in the clearcoat)
      - get rid of your old (or new) chamois leather and buy a large microfibre instead.

Only scratching the serface here but if you sign up to clean your car forum I can pm you much more details and they are a great bunch on there.

to be honest and from my own experience, autoglym is an average product range that gives decent but not lasting results.

As said, its definately worth checking out detailing world and checking out the best products available and recommendations for your colour of car. I must warn you that it can get addictive and quite expensive.

A lot of it i also to do with the technique and knowledge of what to apply and at what stage. If you havent already, check out pure detail [site sponsor] and it'll show you the power of good products and knowledge. Especially check out the vw corrado - simply awesome what can be done.

.....regarding the dealer - it wasn't thier apprentice that valeted my car, it was a sub-contract valeter hence the good standard!
