| I've been looking around for reviews of cams for the MK5 but haven't seen any. Anyone replaced their cams here? Reviews? | | | |

Anything specific you want to know?

| I have replaced cams on my last VW (MK2 Scirocco) and my Elise and I felt they instantly gained 20% hp. Just want to know what cam replacement will do to the R. | | | |

| No chance of a 20% gain on an .:R32. When I had my 268/264 Schrick cams installed I noticed a much much stronger mid range and quite a fair whack on the top end. Because I've got DSG the tuning company kept the rev limiter at stock so I can't really get full benefit from them as yet.
Bear in mind that changing cams is pretty much worthless unless you have a remap done too.

| I am sure all R32 owners want a way to get 300hp. I am thinking replacing the air intake, sport exhaust, remap and cams should gain atleast 20% hp. From what I read on all the forums, there is only a 10% gain with these parts installed. | | | |

| I've had those things done and I only got 267bhp (I think) on the dyno. That said, I don't care what the figures say because I enjoy driving the car more since the high lift cams went in.
To get near to 300bhp you'd need to look at a ported cylinder head, sports cats/de cat, maybe different inlet & exhaust manifold and a decent remap. Even then I don't think you'd hit 300bhp.

| Am I right in thinking that if youv did go cams, if you wanted to go FI you'd have to remove them???
Haven't heard the 300bhp thread for a bit. Goes in cycles LOL. Soon the mkv vs mkiv thread will reappear lmao.

| I don't think you would have to, but from what I read the vast majority of the mappings for FI cars are based on OEM cams.

They are going to provide the same result in both cases as far as i know.
Could do with one of the experts confirming this though.

| maybe polished and ported head, cams good air filter, increased compression and a custom remap would do the trick? | | | |

i remember when i first saw a R32, it was the APS demo car and then i read an article about it and i'm sure the 300bhp mark was going to be difficult with just bolt ons and N/A
