Exclamation Momo steering wheel

Picking up my mk4 R next weekend. At the moment the car has a Momo steering wheel fitted. The dealer is contacting the original owner to ask about the original wheel, but as far as I am aware it's not available . I'm happy to have the car with no airbag but was unsure as to any issues regarding MOT/Insurance.

Anybody got any clue?. I've rung my insurance company and the they have said it's fine, but overseas call centres don't inspire me with confidence!

Is it a dealer you're buying it from?

Should have told them to fit a new OEM steering wheel for you.

there is no law that says you must have a drivers airbag, its just there for your own safety. A broken nose is the least of your worries however in an accident, assuming you keep the momo and are belted up

No, it's not a main dealer, but is a reputable one. I'm not that bothered at the moment, just don't want to fall on the wrong side of the law. It's having an MOT before I collect, so if no issue arises there, I expect t'll be OK.

Some Momo steering wheels for the R32 still allow the airbag to work(not sure on a MK4 though)

Do you need to inform your insurance company that the airbag has been removed?

I spoke to the insurance company, but tbh they don't inspire you with confidence when they can't even speak proper english!. I think it's ok, I just like to make sure. In any case I'll get the insurance company to write it into their notes.

Roll on next weekend, I can still hear the noise of the Milltek exhaust in my head!
