      Default coincidence?

Been living here 18 months now no trouble at all.. Had the r a month and came home in it to find two police officers on the drive.. we'd been broken into 20 mins before - usual electrics gone and my girlfriends civic..

Friends family etc all think they were after the golf as do the police.. :(

      I think it's coincidence!
Why break in when golf is not there?
Why take electrical stuff if after golf?
And most importantly why take a Civic if you want an R32? I mean would you?
Just hope you get sorted and everyone is OK.
Just be very vigilant otherwise you'll never sleep at night and don't let the scumbags win!!!

What part of Manchester? It's unlikely they were after the R32 if it wasn't there tbh, what Civic does the missus have, if it's a Type R they might well have been after that - even more attractive to thieves it would seem.

      Shit though, isn't it :|

Sorry to hear that mate, I take it the house was empty at the time?

With one car there they might have assumed there was someone inside, and yet still broke in.

Really sorry to hear this. I had a beautiful mk2 nicked once, it makes you so paranoid.
This situation has made me really consider getting rid of my 32....

I hope they catch the little feckers!

      Don't be soft!

I've been burgled, carjacked and had two bikes stuffed in the back of a van, but I'll be f**ked if I am letting those tw*ts dictate to me what I can or cannot have!

      Fight the scum! :P

If you was out in the Golf as you said ,why wouldn't they just come back another time.

      I think its a coincidence.

Your right!....It just makes me worry when I leave it anywhere that isn't at home!
Damn.....if I had gone through what you had with vehicles I would have either given up and bought a large horse...or I would spend my nights sitting on the veranda in a rocking chair with a shotgun!..but maybe I'm just to "soft"!!!

But on a serious note it does make you sick that we have a legal system that seems to fail the honest man on too many occasions and in most situations.
If someone burgles you they should get a good shoeing then locked away for ever......or even better made to work on a chain gang fixing potholes on our sh*tty roads!

You'd be surprised at your own resilience if (and hopefully it doesn't) it happens.

I do think that sentencing is too lenient, but there you go. Productive use of captive labour is a good idea imho.

      east manchester, reasonable enough area.

civic was just a regular previous shape 1.6 so nothing to draw them in.

i was a bit sketchy on details when i first posted but now i have more info.

neighbours heard a loud bang, looked out and saw a black car and assumed it was us home, shortly after they saw people going in and out the house wearing hats and gloves so called the police, i believe one of the neighbours came out into the street and by the looks of it they left earlier than planned because they didnt take as much as they could have, couple of laptops, couple of consoles, but they left a lot of strange things they could have easily taken - though they took a lot of keys, we keep some keys in a kitchen cupboard because thats where they were when we moved in, they took the ones with the shed and bike lock no others - yet although they broke the shed open, they didnt attempt to take the bikes, maybe they will come back for them??!!??

they took a couple of consoles and cheap accessories yet left all the controllers and the power supply.

they went through every draw and cupboard in the house, yet took little else, they left psp and ds which were both in view, they left another console. plus other assorted easy pickings.

if they did come for the golf, i assume they used it not being there as a way to tell we were out, so why not come back another time.

if they didnt, why this house on that night, there was a car on the drive, curtains closed etc so we could easily have been in bed. there was nothing on show from the outside - there are houses round here with flashier cars on the drive and less visible.

i'm told they pulled up, got out, they walked up the path and kicked the front door in, then a few minutes later they were away with the car they arrived in and the civic.

the civic was found this morning, i'm told it's got a fair amount of damage.

so. part of me wants to think it was the golf that drew them here, that way they knew we were out - because the other option was they picked our house and came in regardless of us being in or not.

if the golf is picking up this type of attention then i think i've bought the wrong car - anyone want to buy a 5dr w/dsg?
