My alarm has started going off, when parked up and locked, for no apparent reason.
A mate suggested that the battery may be on its last legs and that the drop in voltage may be seen as a door or the boot being opened and causing the alarm to go off.
And now the most stupid question of the year. Where is the battery on a mk5??
Any help greatly appreciated as the car has to be left unlocked until I sort the problem.

Dunno why it's going off...but the battery is in the boot...under the carpet and a cover I think.

I had a similar problem with my mk4.The alarm would go off when it wanted and the boot open warning light kept coming on.The problem was that the pipe for the rear window wash had come loose inside the boot lid and leaked fluid onto the locking mechanism and shorted it out.
