| Security researchers plan to reveal a security hole that would enable hackers to take complete control of an iPhone with a text-messaging attack.
Security researchers Charlie Miller and Collin Mulliner will publicize the exploit Thursday at the Black Hat cybersecurity conference, according to Forbes. The researchers said the hack involves sending a series of mostly invisible SMS bursts that effectively hijack an iPhone. From thereon, a hacker could control all the functions on the iPhone, such as e-mailing, dialing contacts — and, most alarmingly, sending more text messages to hijack even more iPhones....

| It's all iPhones (I think) and the fix is to apply the 3.01 software update which came out about a week ago.

| Personally I wouldnt worry about it.
If you look at all new S60 5th edition phones its exactly the same, As phones now have better software than they used to, virus problems are just the same as on PC's so theres nothing you can do. This is just the start of things to come (look how many PC virus definitions their are)
Is exactly the same if youve got a windows mobile or any other phone that has a hard-drive and good software.
If you really want to protect yourself then you need to download some form of anti-virus software just as you would for your PC.
You can get Kaspersky Mobile Security, Symantec etc, for Windows and Symbian Phones though to be 100% honest, not sure what options there are for Iphones as im not silly enough to have one haha
On a serious note, I know Mcafee was making one for the iphone though whether its out or not Im not sure

| i have a 3GS - and have come from a blackberry pearl. The push email via yahoo or MobileMe isn't as consistant as it should be but is generally good enough for even business use.
I have no problems with internet - I think its fine, hook upto wifi and its very quick. No issue sending pictures either.
My opinion ? Glad I got it ( it was a free upgrade at work ) - very pleased

| Depends what your after from a phone, my opinion has always been that the iphones have good flashy software but not so good hardware. Where as Nokias have good hardware but as standard, rubbish software.
If you know how to set up your phone yourself with 3rd party apps, signing etc, then hardware is def what you want as you can upgrade the software.

| like you say silverback its all down to taste,
the giant leap that was made when iphone came out has largely been forgotten now as others have tried to catch up. for me it is the perfect phone now since the text/picture forwarding has been sorted out.to be honest we have 3 in our household and personally i cant think of 1 thing that lets the phone down now, although i appreciate that others may have different needs, great bit of kit.

| I quite like them, I have an iPod touch, but they're far too delicate for work.
I've got a Blackberry Curve 8900 in an Otterbox as it handles email better but the navigation around an iPhone is a bit smoother.
