I paid £1000 for VW's top level of cover warranty for 1 year.

This is unlimited miles - unlimited claims cost - full family Breakdwn cover - unlimited parts and labour costs - 24 hour assisntance - European cover.

To start with i thought i had paid to much but its paid for itself already, they dont ask questions they just go ahead and replace it.

£500 for 3 years sounds like a steal mate. What does it include/not include?

Might be tempted by that sort of price for 3 years. Mine expires in Jan 2010. Couldnt justify £500 per year but 3 years is good.

4wd is extra. ie £7k - 36 months - £615

5k cover drops it to £615...good site that!

Warranty is transferable too.

This may be a massive flaw. Its the DSG id like to cover!

"Unfortunately as an SMG gearbox is not a standard automatic or manual gearbox, it is precluded from the protection of our Click4Warranty policies."

i was quoted 360 for VW one year but price goes up for DSG which this was, normal retail was 400 from vw so not bad discount.

You have to be careful because they could quite easily go bust and you loose your cover and money unless you pay per month?

Thanks for info tho i will check them out as warrenty is a must for DSG owners in my opinion.

I was at stealers today with suspect DSG lag into second so they have reset the mech and DSG which took one hour for the car to reboot!!!!!
I was told if this doesnt fix issue over the weekend they will replace the Full DSG and the mech and something else as well on a 2k miles car and total cost is around 7k, no warrenty would be a nightmare......

Well if it dont cover DSG its pointless in my opinion.......
Its the DSG and haldex you need covered because anything else is cheap to replace.

ouch.. not so good for dsg owners then. mind you if your getting all that for that price it could still be an option unless there are known probs with the dsg. mk4 owner so dont know much about the dsg im afraid..

VW recently quoted me £399 for the year but he said its apparently done through the AA. Good point about going bust. Like the idea of a monthly DD as you mention it!

Its the DSG that unnerves me too. Could i get VW to health check the DSG when it goes in for a service pre warranty expiriy?

The DSG has a fantastic diagnostic system linked to the ecu and from a 2min plug into vag-com they decided mine was faulty so i would imagine this is a VERY good idea richard_nottm

Policy looks ok i reckon. Obviously its hard to tell unless you actually claim.

My main expensive unknown is the DSG so its not for me but looks good for a manual. Ive emailed them to verify the DSG issue.

Smithy - Good news on the DSG diagnostics. I will get that checked over when its due in.

Hi Richard

Just a thought get someone with vag-com to look at the car to see if any errors pop up and then get a print off and get it sorted before the warranty expires

Thats what I did ,lol

happy days !

im calling the stealers tomorrow to ask for new mechatronic as i had issues and they said to call, and they'll swap it out. fingers x'ed.

now my warratny runs out in october, so is the new mechatronic covered under a separate parts warranty?

Yes and No lol

Probably a one month warrenty

Thats why this post is quite important because these parts need to be covered and if somebody with a keen eye can find such a package this would help alot of peeps on this forum.

xjks hope this fixes your issues and stealer told me same.

DSG definately not covered.

"
Dear Richard,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the components covered by our Click4Warranty Mechanical Breakdown Insurance.

Unfortunately, our underwriters have now confirmed that the DSG Gearbox is not a listed component under the terms of our warranty cover and therefore any claim relating to this part will not be authorised.
