| Hi all
So firstly, I am completely aware that I've signed a 12 month contract, so there isnt too much I can do...
However... So, in January I signed a 12 month SIM Only £20 / month Vodafone contract.
I phoned them as I've decided I would quite like an Iphone. So, I asked whether I can change my contract (only agreed 3 weeks ago), to pay £52 (inc iphone insurance) per month over 18 months and £179 for the phone. So basically they are making ALOT more money out of me and tying me in for longer. However, they have said they won't do it as i've signed an agreement.
So I've said I'll just pay the cancellation fee - 2 fingers to them, I'm going to go to O2

| i've heard alot of these type of posts. i would understand it if they needed to cost back a handset, but being sim only is a different matter.
question is why didn't you go for the iphone 3 weeks ago, or go on a 30 day sim contract?
but then, maybe they are making more net profit on sim only deal, as the iphone they will need to recoup the cost of the handset etc.
however i do agree, network providers should offer more flexibilty these days

I don't think they make much money at all on the sim only contracts, I'm paying £20 per month for 900 minutes and 3000 texts

| I've been with vodafone for best part of 15 years & never had a problem UNTIL 2008..was paying £20 a month 2007 then renewed contract at £10 a month aug 2008 although still had 2 months left to run..when renewal came up they couldnt discount any more & could only give me a phone instead. but contract would run for 18 months.I agreed to this BUT what they failed to inform me was that when my contract running at present finished in oct 08 my tariff would go back up to my original £20 2007 tariff..so to sum up i ended up paying double what i was paying..got a phone i didnt need & the pleasure of paying this for an extended contract duration!!Called to complain & was informed that they were unable to give out my original telephone conversation as this would have proved the guy had mis informed me & that it would cost me £276 to cancel contract!!Absolute T***ers & for sure the last time they'll ever get money from me when contract ends!!Sorry for the rant but as you can tell this still makes me boil & cant wait till March to get rid of them!!

I actually ended up emailling the director of customer services and they took me out of contractual commitment. I dont actually know why I decided to sign a new contract at the time!(this was last year)

| Tell O2/Orange that you're moving from Vodafone and have to pay a cancellation fee. When I did this Orange credited £200 the account to cover Voda fees!
Worth a try?!

thanks
basically i've got two VF contracts now out of contract and ready for upgrade. I've been with VF for circa 10 years
looking for two iphones, but i've got friends who work for orange who potentially could get me discount on tariffs: exclusive friends and family discount - the Orange shop
could you find out if VF could match, otherwise there's no point and I'll just move. I'm happy to stay if they can match the 20% discounted tariffs and lower handset cost of Orange i.e. 24 months 16GB 3GS, £125, £30/month discounted to £24 or if they can do better that would be a bonus.
thanks
