Hi, i currently hav a mk4 silver r32 and am goin to be selling next month. My thoughts for a next car were between mk5 r32, e46 m3 and hawkeye subaru sti, so went lookin round garages this wkend and had a seat in them, didn't get to test drive any tho. After seeing them all i hav def decided to update to a newer R. I was fancying gettin 1 with dsg box, is it better than the manual 1? Also 1 more queston, my mk4 has got non res milltek with milltek cats, and love the sound as it comes out with pops a fair bit. Would a mk5 pop with a milltek non res 2?

Cheers, Ross

Ross I would answer yes to all your questions. Just be aware the non res on the MKv is a lot louder than on the mkiv. DSG is great and really makes the car special, and you get the pops too when it blips the throttle for you

Good choices

Paul

i actually decided to go the other way. Ive just sold my mk5 and had planned to get a mk4 .:r and a diesel daily driver. I got a test drive and the driving experience in a mk4 is completely different to a mk5, when i got back into my mk5 it felt watered down and comfort engineered. Just my opinion

Each to their own so only a test drive will tell you. Presonally at the mo, the call of the e46 m3 has reappeared its ugly head and i fear it may be an itch that needs scratched. I will be back in an .:r at some stage, but i recon it'll be a mk4

I was pretty dissapointed with the Milltek on my MK5 when compared with the Milltek on my MK4.

So much so i went back to stock!

Mk5's way better out of the box, However mK4's way better when Milltek'd !

Non res on the Mk5 was stupidly too loud for me, Horrid on the motorway and got attention for the wrong reasons!

non-res on a mk5 is nuts

if you can't handle it, you should probably be driving a range rover :P j/k!!

I have to agree with Steve, I had a Resonated Milltek on my MKV. The stock system which I put back on sounded better IMO.
(not as loud under load, but better accross the range). If you want really Loud I have not heard better than the APR systems.
