Default Front inside tyre wear on both tires

Hi all my r32 is 2 years old now with 14000 miles on the clock, and it was on its first set of tires. I had my first service a week ago at a vw dealer and i got told both of my front tires where bold on the in side (30mm of ware on both tires) is this some think that all r32 mk5'2 do?

      Help LOL

Going over speed bumps one wheel at a time can cause irregular wear like that. Had the same problem on my golf.

Sounds like you're running with the wrong tyre pressure! Check the pressure...if you drive with too low (or too high) pressure, then this will cause uneven tyre wear! For a Mk5 you should be running on 2.8 bar (approx 40 or 41 psi) on all four tyres! I know that sounds high but thats what VW recommend (check the inside of the fuel flap)

Think that will sort out your prob....well, when you get new tyres on!!

mmm speed bumps won't do it......the cars are heavy and 4wd...the wear on the insides is from cornering and the inside tyre scrubbing the edge with the under steer....alot of the Audi's do it.....A8's are terrible for doing it...

Same thing happened to my fronts last time out when I had Eagle F1s on. I've had Kumhos on for a while and no sign of the same thing.

Maybe some tyres are more prone to it as well?

I find 40/41 psi a bit high. I put 37 psi all round for a less crashy ride. Both my fronts were bald on the inside that had done 13k miles.

      41 a bit too much?

I pumped mine up this morn -
41 rear and 45 up front and they still look a little low.
When I had my tyres on they were 38 all round and it was like driving on marshmallow . Lol

I live in london and the roads are shite. Potholes everywhere so the high psi is not really ideal for me.

      that is dangerous chap...

If a company like VW put a value on the petrol cap why go above it?

look on your tyres the MAX load will be around 50psi which is the absolute max....

you should never have that pressure in a normal road tyre.

If the car is not handling well i would look at other things rather than the tyre if the pressures are correct. cracks in the side walls? bad tread? suspension bushes?

with those pressures you will eat the middle of the tyre and the car will be dangerous in the wet as the contact patch of the tyre will be tiny....

my tyres were very worn on the inside when I had 4 new Bridgestone RE050's stuck on last week. 225/40/18 and cost me £470.

My previous tyres were a combo of Pirelli P Zero's on the front and Conti Sport 2's on the rear. The Pirelli's sucked.

The tyres are new, new poly bushes all over, new coilovers, new anti roll bars, upper and lower strut braces.
Everything seems fine apart from low tyres.
      What psi you reccomend then??
      38 just seemed too low

      38-40 psi on the front
      36-38 psi on the rear

the rear of the car is a touch lighter so requires slightly less psi....
