| Recently noticed a funny noise/feeling from the front end.
When i back off the drive i put full right lock on, slowly ease down a kerb then put full left lock on and set off. As i set off i get what i can only describe as three popping noises from the front wheel, feel it a bit through the steering wheel as well!
Doesn't seem to do it unless i apply full lock both ways.
Any ideas people? | | | |

Any ideas people? | Hi Ben,
It sounds like the CV joints but I would get a mechanic to check. Goodluck fella

| Cheers for the replies. Read the previous comments about top strut bearings and thought it sounded favourite but wasn't sure. Is there any way i can check this myself or is it a mechanic job? | | | |

| one way to check if it is the strut top bearings is open the bonnet up and get someone to turn the steering wheel lock to lock. You need to put you hand on the strut top as this is done and you will soon feel if it is them or not.

| I had a similar noise on my anniversary and this apparently was the bearings but never got the chance to get it fixed as some idiot smashed into the front end and wrote it off.

| crunching doesn't sound so good, strut bearings will bind and as you turn the stearing the spring gets wound and then will release with a twang sort of noise

| It might be a ball joint Kraft, my dad kept telling me there was something wrong with the front right wheel, because it was making weird noises when I was turning in full lock. Didnt listen, went to get the car MOT'd and failed because of worn ball joint on that wheel.

Got a gravel driveway, and the first few times i thought it was just stones slipping out from under the wheels as i hit the tarmac
