Default Be careful of what you post up, biker jailed for youtube video!!!

      Hiya guys.

Just thought i would bring this to your attention. So please watch out for the videos and stories you post up.

A motorcyclist who posted footage of himself speeding at up to 130mph on YouTube has been jailed for 12 weeks.

Sandor Ferenci also added video of himself performing wheelies, skids and racing on the opposite side of the road around Banbury, Oxfordshire onto the internet site.

In addition to his custodial sentence, he was also disqualified from driving for two years and ordered to take an extended driving test before he is allowed on the road again.

Judge Terence Maher told Ferenci that he had carried out "lunatic and grossly irresponsible manoeuvres at considerable speed".

The court heard that Ferenci, a carer, was spotted performing wheelies on his Yamaha R6 bike on the A422 Banbury to Brackley road on June 10 this year.

Brian Payne, prosecuting, said a motorist saw Ferenci's antics, which caused another driver to have to brake sharply, and took down his registration number.

He later contacted police, who traced Ferenci to his home in Fulwell Close, Banbury.

The court heard that when officers called at his home, before they had a chance to say anything to him, Ferenci asked them: "Is this about the YouTube video?"

Police then discovered that he had posted the video clips of himself on the internet.

The footage, which was played to the court, had been filmed by a friend from various angles including from a footbridge.

It shows the bike performing wheelies, wheelspins and skids, causing the tyres to smoke, the bike undertaking other vehicles and driving at excessive speed.

Mr Payne said it was impossible to attribute an exact speed at which Ferenci was driving but police have estimated he may have reached up to 130mph.

Would the Youtube vid have been enough on it's own to get a conviction without a witness?

That's exactly what I was thinking? And the fact he admitted he had a vid when feds turned up...lol
Surely they have to prove time's date's and place's which without a witness they can't?Or possibly CCTV footage?

DOUBTFUL, and I'm sorry to say you sound like someone who has a death wish if that's your attitude to speed.
Suggest best course of action for you if this is the best you can come up with is keep your opinion's to yourself.
Good luck anyway and be safe.

he didn't get jailed solely for the Youtube vid, he had been reported by a member of the public who noted his plate. When the police turned up at his house to question him he said "Are you here about the youtube video?"

      What a nob

He was the second one to be prosecuted BBC NEWS | England | Suffolk | No jail for 130mph video driver. This one was done when some one sent a copy of the video to the police.

No jail for 130mph video driver
      Danny Hyde
Hyde was spared a custodial sentence for his actions
A man from Suffolk who filmed himself driving at speeds of up to 130mph has been given a four-month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months.

Danny Hyde, 18, from Swallow Drive, Stowmarket, was seen driving with one hand while he recorded the journey on his mobile phone.

He then put the filmed footage on the YouTube website.

Hyde pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at a hearing at South East Suffolk Magistrates Court.

He was also ordered to do 210 hours of community service and disqualified from driving from 18 months.

The incident took place on the east-bound carriageway of the A14 between the White House and Copdock interchanges, between July and August last year, but a YouTube viewer told police about the video.

      'Not a playground'

Chair of the bench Anne Parry told Hyde: "We consider what you did was so serious that a custodial sentence was justified.

"The aggravating factor was excessive speed, the fact you were holding a mobile phone with one hand on the wheel.

"We estimate for two minutes you drove like that covering three-to-four miles in this manner.

"The other factor was that you posted it on YouTube, publicising what you did, potentially influencing others."

Following the verdict, Insp Trevor Sharman, of Suffolk Police said: "The road is not a playground, and its misuse is nothing to be proud of.

"I would like to thank the member of public who brought this clip to our attention, to enable us to track down and prosecute this individual."
