      Default R-line protection sills...

Decided to have a go at fitting these yesterday, although not in the usual place.

Basically, ever since I bought the car I had been putting minor scratches in the lowest section on the sill when I got in and out of the car. I had been looking everywhere in the VW Accessories catalogue for something suitable. In the time I was looking I managed to put a faint 5p dent in the driver sill when I got out the car and it's one of those things that bugs the hell out of you because it stares you in the face every time you open the door

So I decided it was time to modify something...

Basically, I took my still unsold R-line adhesive sills that I had neglected to fit earlier in the year and set to work cutting them down. The R-line sills are designed to fit in the uppermost crease of the sill, fitting them properly meals lifting up the inner sill trims and removing the door seal itself. Which is a pointless exercise as they don't protect anything anyway.

I trimed approximately 2cm's from the top line of the sill trims and with a little help from a hairdryer and a vinyl fitting kit I've now got something which looks good, hides my tiny dent and now actually protects my sill properly

P.S.; These trims are NOT cheap. They cost me £90.00 from VW for the pair. I only bought them originally at the time because I was ordering blind and wasn't 100% sure what I was getting

Cheers mile: To be honest, and I know it sounds daft, they have a feelgood factor about them when you open the door....reminds you you're driving something special

Yeah, the interior does need that little more tbh. Shame they didn't put them on at the factory!

I have order a set of Alu sill plares with the R32 logo and some personalised engraving.

Which of the 3 sills should they sit on? I was thinking the top one.

But Nelson seems to have his on the lowest one(side skirt)

my ones are coming from germany should be here any day now.

It depends what the company has manufactured them for to be honest mile: Did they not show you template photos of where they would mount?

Officially mione should go on the top but i cut them down.
