| Thought I'd start a new thread as I've posted on several others about this topic. It seems a few people are interested in black headlights for the R32 but as nobody in the UK currently offers these and modifying your own is a pain in the ass (something I started to do but gave up), whilst visiting family in Holland I took the time to visit a few Euro owners of Mk4s with black headlights.
As a result of this general mincing and whoring, I contacted a dealer who provides one of the best aftermarket light solutions (Depo). Subsequently I bought a set to see if they are any good and although I don't have pics yet (planning to do a full how to soon) I can report the following:
They are direct fitment on the R32 using the stock plug from the loom..no chopping or changing.
They are genuine xenon's complete with 6000k bulb and ballast/starter made by Tenzo-R. 8000k is also available although this is far too blue for my liking.
They are genuine crystal glass fronts with matt/powder black interiors.
They are RHD.
They aren't the cheapo shit on Ebay that has Halo/angel eye/projector nonsense and aren't actually any good (I've looked at these also)
The only down side is they don't come with bulbs (apart from the xenons)!
I'll get round to fitting them next week and post pics. If anyone is interested I can get a price for a group buy (or singular) guide price is about 280 shipped to your door

| Definately let us know on this one, let us know how easy the swap is with the original R32 lamps. Do the ballasts etc sit in the same places? Do you need to use the ballasts with the lights or do you use the existing ones?
A good find by the way, have seen them on the net before but was not sure what sort of fitment they would be to replace our existing lights with.

| Morning,
We'll be back from Holland on Monday, I should get chance to fit them up on the weekend...to help keep the costs down if a few people want them when I've got the pics up we'll just travel back over to Holland in the car to pick them up as we visit here all the time these days.
They come with their own ballast (Tenzo-R brand) all ready to fit.
Upon further inspection and in answer to your questions, there seems to be only 2 things that stop them being perfect.
The ballast is seperate from the light unit, it comes with base plate to be affixed wherever you can/want to...when I fit them this will solve that problem.
The indicators aren't twin, the top lens is the indicator bulb, the bottom is for a fog light bulb that doesn't need to be wired up. I'm not bothered by this but it would be quite easy to piggyback the wires and fit a second bulb in place of the fog light
Will be in touch! | | | |

Almo | Save yourself a job anyway mate...whether you like these or not...it's a pig of a job and getting it right (to any decent standard) isn't easy to achieve.

| A stroke of luck...maybe, as I drove the R back home from Manchester today the drivers headlight decided to explode on me somewhere along the M6 so the lights now need to go on. Going to do this tomorrow night now. | | | |

| do the fogs work off the oem wiring or would they need wiring up seperately. id quite like the idea of having the fogs in the headlamp instead of 2 indicators. depends if its a PITA to setup. i dont like the idea of bulbs etc (or places for bulbs) that dont do anything hehe. | | | |

| Cheers guys,
Sorry to get your hopes up but it's not a simple plug and play job...I needed a new light as mine was damaged to these were going on no matter what!
MOT is fine as they're RHD models. If anyone is feeling brave (not that it's hard to do in all honesty) I can still get these and might get a discount if we got a few? The lamps are very good quality.
I've added a pic with the lights off taken after the install

| I might have these and paint my wheels black, on the completely factual basis that the more black you have on an R32, the faster it is. | | | |

| Absolutely, I remember an old saying about 'once you've had black you never go something or other'
so true. | | | | | |
