Has any of the MkV lot got an after market induction kit or air intake system?

After looking around I'll be shortly placing my order for the BMC CDA kit. For those familiar with the CDA's, the R32 kit comes with special silicon tubing and connections which you don't get with most of the other CDA kits for the other makes and models of car.

An option I did want, was the Gruppe M kit from Japan, but at £400 for a K&N filter in a carbon fibre surround - I'll pass. You could get an exhaust for that money.

Anyways, if anyone has one, or any opinions on any kits for the MkV, speak up.

To be honest with you I would go with the one that you have been looking at over on Tyresmoke - the one BrakeSnake has fitted.

On a side note I would think its probably best to change your exhaust before any form of induction system i.e. when you have an exhust and a induction system - you will be able to draw air in better and expel it more effiently- only my opinion though - but probably a few others' too :151:

I would have gone with the Gruppe M but then again that would have been rendered obsolete as soon as I had one of the the HPA FT-series turbo kits fitted

When are you having the kit fitted to your current car?

If anybody needs any assistance regarding Gruppe M. I'm here to help. (I haven't got one btw)

They are fairly pricey though.

My Japanese isn't amazing, but I have petrol headed Japanese mates.

Has anyone got a drop-in BMC panel filter on their MkV?

I've just had an email from Justin Anderson at Evolution Motorsport http://www.evoms.com saying there V-Flow intake will be out towards the end of next month. I'm holding out for that.
Regal Autosport http://www.regal-auto.co.uk can supply.

I have a drop in BMC filter.

Would your Japanese friends say the Gruppe M kits worth the money? Because the fact is you're paying £350 for a piece of carbon fibre.

V-R32, any more info on the V Flow intake?

Sorry Ed, I think I worded my previous post badly.

I don't personally know anyone who has the Gruppe M intake. I meant I have local mates who could ask technical questions in Japanese if anybody here needed more info.

You're totally correct though, if they made the part from another material it would slash the price.

Are you unhappy with the panel filter, or is the air intake the first of many planned mods? I can't remember if you have a remap? I've heard of people getting MAF errors due to oiled cotton-gauze filters.

I know a few MkV R's on vortex have the Gruppe M system fitted. You may be best to enquire over there.

J.

Ah ok. A few people I've spoken to who have them on their Civic Type R's, Integra Type R's etc rave about the Gruppe M kit. Say the improvement is vastly noticable, great bit of kit etc.

At the moment I'm running stage 1 Revo remap with the BMC Panel filter. I never really 'tested' the filter without the remap so my general impression could be a little hazy.

I'd say it's noticeable, but nothing to write home about. As its so much more free flowing than the standard filter, it comes into it's own in the higher speed band -60mph+. The difference was noticeable when you put your foot down.

Stock on the left, BMC on right.

As you can see the stock filter is basickly made out of paper, I thought it was a joke to be honest.

This is my RR results with just the BMC filter on, with only 1200 miles on the clock.

I got mine from a local Top Gear branch. They're stockists for BMC and have garages all over the country.

Another good place is APS. They will send them out in the post for you and are a top company.

www.autops.co.uk

Graph now up. I got 3 differnet graphs and to be honest I don't know the difference.

Car made 242.5bhp and 243lb/ft. I think book figures are 249bhp , not sure about torque though. This was done at Surrey RR, a reputable set up.
