      Default Schrick 272/272 Cams!

after some long, hard work by PowerDubs (VWVortex users should recognise his username) Schrick have decided to make some more aggresive 272/272 cams that will work with the stock valvetrain. This is quite a substantial increase over the 264/268 cams available previously.

      All information is available here

VWvortex Forums: Time for more NA power- finally installing BIGGER CAMS!!!

Interesting times for the N/A enthusiasts around!!

dont see why not, it would depend on the mapping - if someone could map it then yea. I think the stage 4 VF charger kits utilised the slightly less aggresive cams.

longer duration and more air in the cylinder ......so long as you have the injectors to support the flow and as Wayne says the mapping is cock on they should be mint.....would be interesting to see if they are a little lumpy on tickover or not...

What would the effect be on power delivery in the rev range? Would it see a reduction in low down torque in favour of higher rev band power.

the r32 engine has variable valve timing, so again i would guess it depends on the mapping? Im sure James can help more on this one.

Commonly thought yes, most cams increase mid and top end power and torque and sometimes slightly reduce lower end.

i would say so....lose a little lower down but gain further up...the variable timing is setup for standard cams so until we see someone run them with a custom map and figures you could not give 100% correct info

Hmm, will be interesting to see the results of these then. Especially as JBS are going to launch a £4000 350bhp soon.

well going by the comments on the thread over in forced induction, its imminent. But if you could get to 290-300 NA for around £2500 is the extra 50hp justified for £1500?

I'd say very much worth it ...
Especially considering your figures would make the 1st 50bhp £2500 and the second 50bhp only £1500..
I'm sure everyone would love 50bhp on their R for £1500

Here is a graph on the new Schrecks...

Chart of new 272s vs old 268/264s

I have a TT, will consider the 268s, good enough power advantages and SC doable.

      regards
