Default Anyone else have blowout problems with their Mk5 Milltek?

I am having real problems with my MK5 Milltek exhaust.

The slip joint that connects to the OEM cats seems to just keep blowing out no-matter how many times the clamps are tightened.

I have taken the car to several garages to get the problem sorted.... but with no luck!

TBH it is getting to the stage that I am considering getting the whole thing welded up!

I have had several milltek exhausts - on my mk4 R32 focus ST - etc, etc but the fit on the MK5 R32 is just poor...

I honestly feel that milltek have let themselves down on this one...

Any other Mk5 owners have similar problems?

It may be that the pipe isnt being inserted far enough into the cat pipe if you understand. Try slackening the whole thing off and re positioning it.

      You are not alone!!

I live in Dubai and had a local garage import a MK5 Milltek for me. They fitted it, it leaked, they re-fitted it and used paste, it leaked a few days later once the paste was blown out, eventually Milltek agreed to send out a replacement.

The replacement leaked. It was refitted with paste, a few days later the paste was blown out and it leaked. I got soo p'eed off with this I ended up having all the joints welded. That was the last thing I wanted to do but could not face weekly trips to the garage.

To note: I at one point even questioned the garages capability and tried using MTM (Dubai branch) to re-fit the 2nd exhaust, but it still leaked after they tried. So now, i am the proud owner of some lovely MTM welding but at the same time the owner of a sub-standard Milltek.

I would not recommend them for the MK5 R32 to anyone, not only do certain examples of their exhausts for this car leak, the alignment of the pipes to the rear valance is not brilliant (even when adjusted using Millteks fitting advice).

Go get the more expensive but (IMHO) superior, Supersprint. I wish I had!

Cheers for the reply, its not just my exhaust then......:o

I have to say the fit of the mk5 milltek is just awful and it sounds 5hite when it blows out the day after gettig it fixed!

      Especially at 3k revs:angry:

Looks like it will be welded..

I honestly wish I had bought the supersprint!
