Afternoon all,
A few weeks ago, i noticed corrosion forming on the front two wings and also from within the boot handle on my 56' MK5.
A VW body work inspector came to my place of work and took photos and measurements as needed.
VW have given me a call explaining that they're happy to repair both front wings FOC including blending. (Which is great)
And they have offered a 50% "Goodwill" on the tail gate, meaning a price of around £170 would be payable.
The lady said on the phone, VW are aware that the boot handle corrosion is a common problem, and a technical instruction (or bulletin) was released due to this.
I asked the question, if it is a known problem, why are VW only offering a 50% offer, where as on the wings they're carrying out the work without charge.
She informed me its within my right to converse with VW customer services to see if they would increase the offer or do it FOC etc.
Now, my question is, has anyone been in the same situation and what was the outcome?
What angle do i take with VW customer services, do i play the unhappy customer, or polite and thankful that they've offered 50% but think they can offer better?
I am opting for emailing them, just to keep a paper trail of conversations as such.
Cheers!
Jamie.
P.s. I'm only looking for replies from people who have actually gone through this process (to prevent the thread from clogging up with random conversation), So if you haven't, please don't reply!
