Don't know if this is any help to you but I have had a bit of a look around on google and the link below is the best I found. Even better than the governments official web site. Be careful when you choose your cars model, don't pick Golf because that doesn't give you the option of an R32. You have to pick Golf R32 to get the correct car tax price. The site then gives you current tax prices and new prices as of 1st April 2009. Hope this is useful to you and doesn't put you off an R32.

I think its anything pre June 06 will be the lower price of between £210-£245(in april 10)
and after that date will be £400+ bracket.

O still can't work out how they can justify a 100% increase. If they did that to any other tax then there would a public outcry but because it's the motorist. Thank god they've put it off for at least a year. Fingers crossed longer.

well mk4 owners are ok for next couple of years looking at those figures

06+ owners had high tax at the time of purchase to put them off buying polluting cars hence why their tax is so high...although there are a few people around 56 plates i think who bought the cars when tax was normal but got bumped heavily within 6months to a year

My car tax is due in March ,

More money that is not going to be spent on repairing the the rubbish pot holed roads though !

The tax on my car (07 plate) only went up after about 6 months of ownership, was at the lower rate when I purchased originally, although I think the increase may have already been suggested when I bought it.

Still sucks balls though...:banghead:

Just done mine - £210. Yes it's a lot of money but one of those things, I don't want to drive a 1.1 Saxo & pay diddly squat road tax so I've just gotta pay it... then drive it!!

Think of the difference between the cost of road tax on your previous car it doesn't seem too bad then.
My previous car an Audi A3 was £220 a year

My R32 is £180 a year more and worth every penny more.

Lads, as im currently looking for a mk4 r32 myself, can we clarify that the road tax is still £210 per year?

As according to the dvla site it should be £435? :stoned: The cost of vehicle tax for cars, motorcycles, light goods vehicles and trade licences : Directgov - Motoring

That's if i've got the co2 figures right at 275g/km? (Class M) Can someone check their v5?

Cheers, Neil.

A MKIV  and a early MKV before march 23rd i think 2006 is now £245 for 12 months
It went up from £215 for 12 months on April1st

The answer is on that site you posted

* Band K includes cars that have a CO2 figure over 225g/km but were registered before 23 March 2006

Ahhh, I got bamboozled by the band M.
Thank christ for that. No chance im paying around £400 quid.

Cheers Paulie. The search continues. Although some of the asking prices are totally baffling me...Two currently for sale at 12k (Which is crazy money imo), one has done 18k miles from new, the other 52k miles from new. The only difference is colour!

Baffled!

£425 for me end of the month and its worth it! :)

I try to pay via pot office with as much as i can to help save post offices from shutting, but its easier to do so if they are next door to you like it is for me at work..

I agree on the Post Office front,I nearly always get it from the PO,I did once get it on line when I forgot and I do have to admit it is very easy to do online.
