If you're talking about the ".:R32" badge it's held on with double sided tape. Heat it up with a hair drier to soften the glue and very carefully prise off with a piece of dental floss.

Sorry I should of explained it better I meant the vw badge! They are different on the older ones. I've got a feeling it's a complete unit whereas on the newer ones it comes apart like the front grill (vw) badge.

Still possible to remove the actual VW badge, you just need to get the unit out then break it down...........most things come apart on the MK5 just working out how is the difficult thing

It's weird though as I seen a how to thread but my badge isn't like the one in the thread! It's more like a sticker! As in its smooth and the vw bit isn't riaised up from the background bit .

yours is the same type as the one in mine--Vw changed them in 2006 to the raised version,Mine started to suffer from the dreaded white worm and i got the later badge but it didn't fit flush so i removed my badge and got it painted
