Hi all,

After discovering that i needed to get a 6463 update to iron out the minor flat spots that i have recently found on my MK4 i went into my local VW dealership and checked on the computer for any outstanding updates - there were none.

So how do i go about getting this update done? Has any one else had this problem??

When you say they checked on the computer did they actually plug the car in or did they just look on their system? If they have plugged the car in and nothing came up then it's most likely already been done and you need to look at something else such as the MAF, it's also worth noting whilst the 6463 is great it doesn't completely irradicate the flat spots - mine still has the odd few on occasions.

If they didn't plug in your car you can have a search for 6463 on here and the actual bulletin number is listed, if you go in with that information then they shouldn't have a problem with sorting it out.

VW never treated it as a recall, it was just a tech bulletin. I don't think I have heard of anyone being offered the update without having to ask for it

They just checked on the computer without plugging in the car - i think that is 'Vagcom' as Pomme mentioned?? If I am wrong could you give me details about how to access 'Vagcom' and what it can do for me!!

Well basically vagcom is program like microsoft word or something that people have on laptops, which with the correct cabel can plug into your car through the obd2 port under the climatronic. Then with vagcom you can access lots of data about the car like fault codes etc tec as well as what version software it is running, ie if its running 6463.

Ah ok, I know what you mean now. . . If you have a copy next meet I would really appreciate it if you could plug it up and run a diagnosis for me.

I cant make Sat as I am driving up to Barnsley for the FA Cup!!

Yeah will bring it with me but was going a bit strange on my car the other day. Will completely take it off and reload it which should sort it out :)

Good luck att he game, should be a good one :) but if you need it done sooner, then why not go to one of your local vag specialist, ie awsome, amd, bbt, aps etc etc as i know some can even put the update on for you :) :D

Thanks Pomme, Dont have the time at the moment to get car to a specialist - next time you organise a meet can it be closer to London tan?! Maybe Bath? Castle Combe (not circuit) roads are great!

Also what bhp are you running with the turbo and roughly what is the 0-60? I have been recently dissapointed to find out that the VXR Astra is 0.2s quicker standard than the .:R........ so need to make some mods fast!!

Hiya, well i live in windsor so if your around this way im more then willing to chuck it on for you.

As for the bhp it was supposidly 460 with the boost down at 0.8 bar, so with it up to 1.2 it should be a real beast. As for 0-60s i have no real idea but if i go to gti international im sure well find out :)

That must pull your insides out! If you could lay something on and give plenty of prior warning then I will be there in a flash!!
