Hey Guys,

I'm really sorry for creating another thread in regards to getting my front two Omantys wheels refurbished, I just want to make sure the job gets done correctly and properly by a garage, which finding one decent around the 25 mile radius is proving a real struggle.

I've contacted The Wheel Specialists in Fareham and this is the email they replied after sending them 15 pictures of my front alloys, They are standard 18" Omantys.

Hi,

Thank you for the pictures can see exactly what's wrong with the wheels now.

Do you like the polished lips? As its just 2 you need doing, so need to keep them all looking the same?

If you don't like or want to keep the polished section to be completely honestly I would recommend having all the wheels powder coated, to stop the oxidization and laquer peel from happening again in the future

If you wanted to keep the polished lip then we can just polish the rim for you but the chances of having the same problem again is very high. This is £70 a rims + VAT

To have one wheel fully refurbished we acid dip the wheel to strip off everything that's on there then polish out kerb damage or imperfections on the wheel, we then powder coat the whole wheel to the colour you like then re balance the wheel and put it back on your vehicle, this can all be done in one day and is £87 a wheel + VAT

I'm not sure what the other company have quoted for but sounds like they may just paint over the damage to make it look better for now but just painting over the damage isn't going to stop the oxidization and laquer bubbling, this process will still happen underneath.

I hope I have bombarded you with too much information, please if you have any more questions get in touch

Regards
Holly

So, What's concerned me is the part were she mentioned this bit, If you wanted to keep the polished lip then we can just polish the rim for you but the chances of having the same problem again is very high. I mean, i don't want it coming back a few months down the line.

i only want the front two wheels done and i don't really want to powdercoat or do anything to them, as that means i then need to do the back two costing double the price when i like the way the standard wheels are at the minute and planned on keeping them the way they are, because they in my opinion suite the car and i wasn't looking to change the wheel.

If anyone can share their experience just to ease (just tell me how it is)
that would be great, thanks guys,
and again, Apologies, just want to make sure the jobs done right before parting with my cash, very protective over the car.

Thanks
