Guys,

I am going to be looking at getting a undertray/sump guard made out of carbon/kevlar for my MK5, with aluminium reinforcing where its needed.

This is very early on at the moment, but I was wondering if anyone else would be interested?

It will use the same mounting points as the standard MK5 R32 undertray. It will likely be a mixture of carbon/kevlar rather than strictly one over the other. Kevlar is cheaper and more durable, so would probably be the upper layers where the carbon may be just one layer thick on the bottom.

Again, early days at the moment just wondering if there is anyone else interested

Carbon is brittle and easily cracks though so totally pointless for a sump guard other then getting the carbon bling boys interested but as you stated yourself nobody will see it when fitted anyway. If your going to dick about and make a sump guard at least make a strong one out of steel or aluminium that will not crack when a twig hits it.

The subframe is lower than the sump on a mk5 anyway so the chances of hitting the sump off of a bump is very slim unlike the mk4.
