went to the dealership today as its time to say goodbye to the gti now its just clocked over 100k :(

its the mrs turn for a car, and although there were 2 GTsports, 3 GTis and a DBP mk5 R32 she has decided she wants an EOS

Going to go for a shadow blue with black leather in the 2.0T engine size i reckon, but no matter how i stare at it its just missing something in the styling department

anybody else like these? any plus or negative points you want to mention i should know about before i commit?

before the mrs even gets her hands on the keys it will be shipped off to a local bodywork company where i plan to kit it, lower it and changed the exhaust and rims. leading the styling choice is the offering from ABT

My missus is keen on them as well, and if you're going for cabrio the Eos is probably the best that's around at the moment if you take into account value for money, build quality etc. I think you're making a good choice with it although you could wait for the A3 cabrio if you're not sold on the styling?
Dont lower or raise the roof if theres anything parked behind you.

Has she got to have a 2+2?
yeah we have 2 kids so we need the back seats, and the a3 - we had the sportback so she doesnt fancy a droptoop version

her heart is set on the eos now but i am going to spend a bit of extra money and do some subtle pimping...not chav, more R inspired

once i get the car i will start a thread in the members ride section to show progress etc but will keep it in here for now

what are peoples opinions of the following kits. anything you like stand out with them, prefer some bit from one and bits from the other?

only been able to find 3 kits online so far, if anyone knows of anymore then please add in to the thread so i can see them

KIT 1
made by ABT

KIT 2
made by caractere

KIT 3
made by JE

kit 1 and the rear of kit 2. Front of kit 2 looks a bit Tigra...?
White looks fookin awesome too.
if it came in candy white then thats what she would choose, either that or DBP but it doesnt so she only had a choice of 3 blues, the light blue which is nasty, one they call midnight which is almost black and the one she's chosen called shadow blue which has a mild pearl
The charactere kit without that funny rear spoiler looks really nice...very "euro" if you ask me :) Althou the ABT Kit also looks quite nice :)
And....to add to it...yes i do like the Eos...trying to convince to get one for my sister in silver with the red leather interior....would be nice to have a convertible that can seat 4 comfortably with the weather we have here :)
hiya mate, which dealer did you go to?

i really like the eos, its a very very nice car. got to say i really like the caractere kit out of the three :) :) :)
i went to helston and saw mark, he's going to score the dealer network over the weekend for me and see what he can find, then it will get delivered to allen autobodies at crowlas for the kit to be fitted then possibly over to RK for the zorst mod. induction and engine tuning will come in the next few months

i am trying to keep the car/kit/zorst/rims and paint all in to under £30k which is my budget for the project for her

shes over the moon, muchos brownie points for me :D
cool sounds good mate :)

just make sure when you get the work done down in crowlas to go over the car very very finally (or dont let jeremy at the agrage to look at it) as he spotted a fault with practically every panel on the car after they resprayed it, luckily they took it back to be fixed.
always do mate, they have done 2 full resprays for me to date on a dmaaged a3 and on a mk4 golf and its been flawless, although ive heard some people have had issues. but it IS the vag approved workshop for down here and the dealer is happy with the warranty and everything i have planned too which is a bonus
does that mean ur getting rid of your R??
I really like the EOS, they had a black one in the showroom when i was in there last week!.

Would definalty be a nice edition!!
If your missus likes it then that's the majority of the decision work done? Have to admit I like the caractare kits for the EOS.

We looked at the EOS, I thought it was a good well thought out car, which looks better with the roof down, could not make my mind up with the roof up though.

However, due to the lack of a driving licence on the day we visited the dealers a test drive couldn't be arranged, followed by a phone call which took the demo of the patch, another dealer had grabbed it.

We talked about the car and my missus was less than keen, the next day went to BMW, she ordered the new 3 coupe. She's never looked back and absolutelty delighted with it.

So I say if your missus likes the EOS go for it. Happiness.
I like them, but imo they have a weight problem, now it might sound rich coming from an R32 owner, but even the 3.2 V6 does 7.1s to 60. Now i know it's not your primary car and you speed in this case isn't too important to you, but the extra weight is going to affect you're fuel consumption.

God i'm beginning to sound like my dad, i'll shut up now, and leave you with a nicer comment 'get a silver one with the red interior and it'll be a VERY nice car :top:'

yeah, we had a long talk about engines and weight, but she want the droptop side of life and like the shape and not to bothered about particularly terrorising the tarmac. thats why we went fot the turbo 2.0 so that we can tune it quite cheaply and effectively for a low budget and make it nippy with out being crazy, the 3.2 didnt appeal enough and would drink fuel
Overall, I prefer the ABT kit, looks more OE. I REALLY don't like the side skirts of the Caractere, but front and rear bumpers are good. (also, loose the spoiler)

30Grand! Go for an import.

Just my 2yens....

edit: Does anybody else agree that parking sensors ruin the look of the rear bumper on any car?

Yes, and you don't need them.

Unless you're a woman, i'd rather a woman had them and didn't run into my car!
