hi since i started the detailing cars and word of mouth has spread around and ive been a busy boy. So ive took the plunge signed up to a further course on paint correction and looking at liability insurance and now a website, so many people are asking what i do and the before and afters so I was talking to a guy at work today and his wiife sells homemade jewellery on a website made using http://website.1and1.co.uk/easy-start?__lf=guided&linkOrigin=layouts&linkId=ct.tabs.diyShowroom.simple

anyone tried it or can reccomend a better place to start a website, its just going to be a showcase of my cars that have been done in the past.

cheers

I can build websites but have never used that 1and1 thing so no idea what its like or the prices etc.

for what you need you wouldnt need any fancy scripting enabled so you will probably be ok with them tbf.. have you thought about just setting up a page or group on facebook? everyone is on there anyway and it wouldnt cost you any money

this is a prime example of a 1and1 that is screwed http://www.janewilso...ns.co.uk/3.html

this bloke gives several reasons they are crap too http://timrogers.co.uk/2012/08/14/1and1-ask-for-passwords-over-the-phone/

cheers for that, yeah nothing fancy and i have a facebook page already set up, i should moan but it was originally created to showcase the work rather than generating more work which it has so its a very good concept and works well. Some of the cars are bentleys and the higer end of the spectrum and i just wanted it to looka bit more professional than a facebook page for some customer.

Why not offer services in exchange for a page and hosting? Can't be more than a couple hundred quid worth of work surely?!

I'm not a web designer, but if I was id make you a webpage in exchange for a detail, surely someone can knock you up a static site that fits the bill?! You used to have member called Davefish.... He would be a good person to speak to

If i was you id maybe draw up some ideas in terms of styles, themes, colour choice, possible logos, yada yada as that's where a lot of the cost is, sat with the client working or what they want etc

If you could hand someone you're ideas your 90% there, the coding and putting together will be relatively quick
