Finally got my new front set up on my mk4, 996t calipers and Ferodo ds2500 pads. Now I've not drive the car yet as am away at work, but the gf says its squealing like a bitch.
Anyone had experience of this? Looker online n got a guide from Ferodo to bed them in but it doesn't say anything about noise as they're track based pads I assume

From what I was reading you should do 60-20 several times, don't take it down to 0 as you don't want to come to a halt with really hot brakes while bedding them in, just drive normally back home to let them cool down.

What did the ferodo guide say to do? Post a link as I have the same brakes to fit and bed in.

Thought the garage who fitted them would of done that... Like I say I'm not at home to drive it, just worried I've spunked ££££ on a set up that'll do my head in...
You'd think so! Happened to me before so not surprised. Get them bed in first and see what they're like.

They will need 200 miles to bed on of normal road use, obviously doing the above will speed that up. Squealing and bedding iN are 2 different issues. They need to grease th back of the pad and also the fitting kit

I agree however it is possible to glaze the surface of the pad if they are not bedded in correctly which can lead to squealing.

Join the DS2500 club mate. I've got same pads in my 996T setup and had to take them out because of squealing. It's because they don't have the counter weights on the pads. I've swapped them out for some genuine porsche (textar, pagid, ATE) and they have been fine.

I bed my Ferodos in for thousands of miles, copper greased them, chamfered pad edges, did loads of 60mph to near stops until brakes were smoking but the squeal remains.

I use the Ferodos for fast driving day snow and standard pads for daily use.

That's always an option, how much did the standard Porsche ones set you back? Is there much difference in performance?
Hope ill be lucky and they'll shut up after a few miles..
But knowing my luck...

Done around 400 miles now, loads of 60 to 20 mph brakes, and they still squeal like a bitch!! Think ill have to save them for track use. Anyone know the part number for the oem Porsche pads?

Also need to front tyres now as the arches catch. £240 wasted! Barely done a thousand miles...
Mine always catch on the drivers side, problem with running my BBS CH's!

Are yours catching enough to ruin them needing new ones? Mine just take a little bit of rubber off, hardly noticeable.

It's my passenger side that's worse, tyre is shafted! Had to fit 16mm spacers to get the wheels to clear the calipers, literally 2mm clearance now, the joys!!
