Hi All, just joined to have a nose around as you all seem like a friendly bunch :)

Presently tootling around in a Civic Type-R, looking for a change and am thinking quite possibly an R32... but it must be black (as everyone knows, the fastest colour).

Right I'm off to nose some more...

ypu'll love the r32's mate. im changing from a 182 and even though the r32s arent hugely quicker there just so much nicer to drive!!! you can either give it some or just cruise along. Always felt in the 182 and any typr-r ive driven you cant really just cruise they always feel happier getting driven at 10 10ths
welcome, blue is the fastest, i think the paint on the blue is a bit thinner so weighs less lol. but black looks nice, good luck finding a good one
you dont tootle in a type r lol i have had 2 of them. welcome and good luck on your search
Thanks for the warm welcome and replies peeps! OK ok I don't tootle, Mat ED30 how would you compare the R32 against the Type R (I have an EP3 not the bloated FN2).
grip and noise unless you have played with yours as the sound of a modded vtec is a special noise lol.the type r is lighter and feels it but its the sheer grunt of the r32 you will love.
Hi mate, welcome to the forum.

You are definately going to be impressed with the R32, although it will feel different to the CTR. Just wait until you hear the V6 tho, you'll be hooked.

You thinking about a MkIV or MkV?
I made a similar move to you 6months ago, came from a EP3 to a MK5 R32, and your right NHB CTR's are qwicker but with the R32's it blue all the way!

Thx :) Have watched some vid clips on YouTube and I thought, hmm, I gotta have me some of that!! I was (pleasantly) surprised how great it sounded stock. I prefer the look (and the price) of a (3 door) MkIV so that's the way I would be heading...

For me, the CTR is a gem of a car (reliable, price for performance, very cheap to maintain), but as someone alluded to above, it is quite 'raw', as it is intended to be of course, and well, I do some motorway miles too so I'd like the best of both worlds now, something with grunt but something I can also cruise in a bit (the CTR is a very firm ride!).

Hi Rupo, how did you find the move over? All good?

I have a Cosmic Grey CTR but I am going to move back over to the dark side once again...

Thanks Mat, the R32 sounds awesome from what I have seen on YouTube!!
welcome to the site, you'll get all the info you could need on here to help in your search

and i have to also say that BLUE IS the fastest :D
Black MK iv R32 is definitely the way forward, switched last year from a black CTR. Loved the car but got fed up of lack of creature comforts and the fact i was driving everywhere like my pants were on fire. Also as quick as it was never really felt overly confident in the bends especially when wet!! Got bored of spinning the wheels in 1st 2nd and 3rd as well.
Got in the R32 and knew i had to have it as soon as i turned the key and heard that engine start! Still haven't got bored of that engine note. Speed wise the car are pretty similar, but now i'm sat in heated leather seats and stuck to the road.
We've had this debate before, DBP is fastest followed by the other blues, although why someone would want one of those is beyond me

Really happy with the R32, I found it a really different driving experience at first, it almost felt like driving a sports saloon in comparison to the CTR.

Good points are, like others have said, you dont feel the need to constantly be thrashing the R32, I found that the only thing I actually enjoyed about the CTR was being at 8000rpm. The R32 is different, its awesome to thrash dont get me wrong, but because of the big burbly engine, torque in every gear, comfort (awesome seats in the MK4) and Id say nicer looks than the CTR, the whole driving experience doesnt revolve around you driving like you stole it.

Bad points (ish), if Im honest, I would say there is something very addictive about turbos and VTEC's and its something that does take some time to forget about. Fuel is pretty bad too, I get around 17mpg and go as low as 14.

If you do get one, you'll love it. And from when Iv raced MK4 R32's in my CTR, the R32 just pips it.

PS.Are you a member on the CTR forum?
Thanks guys! All awesome replies! Well from what I've read on here from you all and the ex-CTR guys we all think alike in terms of likes/dislikes regarding the CTR and also mirrors what I am looking for especially in the R32. Sweeeet!

As it happens, I am driving a Mk5 TDi this week and that's what got my noggin thinking hmm, ok, perhaps a Golf, but not a TDi or GTi, what else is there.... and here I am (and the TDi feels REALLY heavy so I can only imagine what it'd be like with a V6 lump up the front!)

I do prefer the looks of the Mk IV R32 I must say, I prefer the more subtle, cleaner looks as opposed to looking like bits have been thrown at a car (I mean in relation to a CTR).

So far my heart says yes, my head says yes. I've been looking on autotrader, dealers, pistonheads, etc and the prices do seem to fluctuate quite a bit (for similar spec/mileage).

Rupo, yeah I'm on the CTR Forum, but under a different name, I don't tend to pop on often because in 18 months of ownership I've had to do nothing to the car apart from some tyres, brakes and oil! (Oh and a BuddyClub Spec IV zaust!!), although I found it very useful uprating the speakers and stereo etc.

Hi and welcome aboard.

For me the beauty of the VR6 engine is that it still gives pleasure even at only 4tenths, never mind 10 tenths through a tunnel. It will eat up motorway miles. You won't be dissapointed.:D
Ha your signature matches my initials....assuming that's your plate! Welcome to the site mate, there is only one colour in the Mark 4, Deep Blue Pearl, all the others were discontinued I think!
