I have a few stone chips on my bonnet, but one which is deeper than the rest which has rust at the base of the chip.

Im not great at DIY but what is the best process to treat the rust as I dont want the rust to get any worse? My priority is firstly treating the rust and then possibly using the touch up pen plus clearcoat which was given to me by VW but ive read into this and most people advise to avoid doing it as the results arent great.

Any advice will be appreciated as Im well aware that once rust starts it only gets worse so I would like to prevent this if possible (my wife as put her 2 pence in and told me to slow down)

The touch up kit has a wire brush in the base coats lid which oh use to clean the stone chip out with then I'd suggest using something like jenolite or kurust then do your basecoat then clear

Only way your really gonna get rid of them fully and not worry about rust is a respray and then protective film over the panels mainly the front
