Hi all, so today I noticed a rattle at *just* above idle, so if I leave it idling I don't hear it, but if I touch the accelerator lightly the rattle starts. If I rev it slightly I can hear the rattle and then when the RPM rises above a certain amount the rattle stops.

Video demonstrates the rattle:

Each time you hear the rattle I am pressing the accelerator ever so slightly. It idles fine.

And no I am not naked before anyone asks.

:Edit: 30 Views no responses, anyone got an opinion? take to a garage? remortgage?

I can't really hear it clearly on my winky little PC speaker, but try it with the clutch down also. If the noise goes, dual mass. If the noise is there regardless of clutch position (I'm assuming it's a manual?), it's something else and probably a lot cheaper! Something rattling as the others suggested.

Sorry for delay - Mechanics had two guys look at it and could not find anything wrong with it. If it changes or gets worse I will go back and insist on more testing. I imagine it is something to do with the exhaust system, as it occasionally rasps louder than usual at certain RPM/on gear change.

Sounds like a rattling heat shield.. Check the shield on the cats, they tend to rust on the fixings & then cause a rattle..
