Hi All,

Just come back home,

When on the M25 I kept getting flashed,

It was later when I could pull over and have a look in the layby and inspect the rear of my R and I found TWO rear bulbs very very dark,

(Had a look and both black as black,Replaced now)

I will have to keep a eye on my rear lights and see if they blow again,

Think they were 12V-10W (small bulbs)

I will see tomorrow when I locate my manual and see if the bulbs are correct.

Could it be that one has been gone for a while , but now both have gone its more likely you'd be flashed at.

Ether way defintley keep an eye on them.

When I filled up with fuel they looked ok,

Then I hit the road and kept getting flashed,

What should the WATTAGE be ?

The Brake lights are ok and also number plate bulbs plus the one rear fog light,

Thanks for the above (Think Steve),lol.

Is it a earthing thing ?

When I contacted VW garage they said they just go like that as and when,

Well you get free bulbs, I have just ordered LED tail light bulbs

I had the same problem with my old GTI, the rear bulbs used to last a couple of months and then die, I've already replaced two bulbs in my R32 but that's in 6 months of owning it. For this reason I always keep 10 spare brake light bulbs and 20 assorted bulbs in my car!

I think it just a common problem on the car. Replaced two rear bulbs in the last few months only to be told today that another one has gone!

Thats odd as I have also had three blown in total,
Now I have a front sidelight bulb dead now.(Just need smaller hands to change it)

Just replaced my standard rear taillight bulbs (X2)

Standard bulbs

Blown again.(Just about see it glowing)........

Replaced with L.E.D red bulbs from ULTRALEADS.CO.UK (U282R25R)

The above were taken when I was placing the led's into the holder.

Looks like I will have to do a night shot, lol.

have your battery and alternator's checked lads

bad voltage will kill the bulbs quickly

i'd start with a multimeter on the rear bulb holders...car off and on of course
