How many on here are a bit of a gadget man ?.

i'm terrible, i'm always on the look out for the next shiny must have gadget.

This morning i got grief off the mrs about the amount of stuff i have got in the last 12 months and when i thought about it she is prob right.

In the last 12 months i have bought

  • Canon 30D & Flash Gun & New Lens (old Camera Sold to fund)
  • Iphone (Free N95 from o2 sold to fund)
  • Car Stereo (Sat Nav, Hands Free Etc..)
  • PS3 (inc too many games)
  • 46'' LCD TV
  • AV Amp
  • Monitor Audio Speaker & Sub
  • Macbook Laptop (allowance from work helped fund)

Anyone else suffer from this terrible expensive affliction ?

I have collected a few gadgets over the years, here are some of them:

42" lcd
Valve amplifier (built this myself).:proud:
2x nitro RC car's.

HTPC (built myself) saw a review of the case and decided I had to have it when I saw the 7" touch screen.

And my favourite gadget, A Barco CRT projector.
I got the projector for free, the site where I used to work had a cinema, I managed to get the projector (with permision) before the site was demolished.

The projected image is the roughly equivalent of a 6 foot screen, it can go bigger if I had more wall space.

And of course the best big boys toy a 2003 DPB R32.

Ha, I think we all suffer from this having R's in the first place!

Recent list of purchases over the last 12 months include:

42 inch Plasma

I have a projector at home too - they are fantastic for watching films on. also got my PS3 hooked up to it. I'm very keen on gadgets, one I would heartily recommend is Apple TV
If were talking the last year then what with buying the R i've been a little strapped for cash! But i have found room for my MacBook Pro an iPhone and an AirPort Extreme Base station.......not that i like Apple products or anything :xD
Hell yeah I love gadgets.

Had to get my plasma as soon as I could afford it... it's now 2.5 years old and I want a new one!

Lastest gadget is a green laser pointer... these things are wicked... burns through black plastic, ignites matches, and the beam is amazingly bright. Yes there's hardly any point in actually owning it, but it's a gadget and I love it!
In the past 12 months:

-PS3
-Xbox 360
-Nikon D80
-Macbook Pro
-Car audio system

And I've got 2k waiting ready for a new HD TV and surround sound system this week :xD

Reallllly need to calm it for a bit!

Complete and utter waste of money for an amateur mate. Some pro's will still never utilize a camera such as the D300.

Get something like a D40x or Cannon 400D, then learn how to use it. You can upgrade as you get better every few years.
seriously into my gaming!! Just taken delivery of a playseat see - www.playseat.com and then spent £150 on a steering wheel set up for the PS3 in preparation for GT5 on Friday!! Can't wait!! This is all on top of my recent 'retro' gaming passion and have just bought a new piece of furniture to house my recent newly collected collection of SEGA Megadrive, Nintendo 64, SEGA Saturn, Amiga- (remember those from the early 90's!!) games and consoles!!

Due to me being lazy and being bothered to hook this lot up to my 50" Samsung, on Monday last week got a bargain deal on a 32" Samsung LCD so now have 2 tv's in my lounge!! Girlfriend is not impressed!!

Anyone else waiting for GT5??

Sorry Ed, I have to disagree with you on this one. The D300 is aimed at the serious amateur/semi pro. For someone serious about taking up photography, there is no better camera. I agree it is expensive especially when you have to buy lenses etc but the results are worth it. If the D300 is the goal it is not wise to start off with the Canon as upgrading would mean buying another lens system.
Anyway aren't boys toys all about buying the best the best gadget that you can afford.
Monkey
Ed...thanks for your concern! I will have to agree it is pricey and even my dad has told me to start small and then upgrade but over a few hundred pounds i dont really want to kick up a big fuss. And as i did mention before i am getting into photography so still quite a long way to go! What camera do you use?? :)
