Absolutely gutted. Only had my 06 mk5 r32 6 months and the gearbox has broke.

The volkswagen centrein st helens is going to take the box out on monday and investigate what has gone on it.

Anyone recommend what to do? I have been looking for used ones on ebay etc and seen one for £900. Is this a fair price?

Does anyone know where I can get a used box from?

or anyone want to buy the car with a broken gearbox at a reduced price?

Cheers

Alex

76k on the clock. was about to get the dsg serviced as well. It was making a pretty loud grinding noise especially in the lower gears. The noise was coming from the left hand side of the car so i thought it might be a wheel bearing/ brake or diff problem maybe. Then i realised that when I was moving and put the car into neutral the noise stopped.

Took it to the garage yesterday and they have confirmed my worst fear lol

Bet it will work out cheaper just to drop a secondhand box on from eBay or any breakers, mines a 55 . Mine was doing same but I had it serviced and it was fine, you wanna have a look at your timing chains and get them to check your dual mass flywheel why the box is out.. hope you get it fixed pal
