Bit of a strange noise coming from my 2006 R32. Sounds like the exhaust contracting and expanding with heat etc.

However I'm not entirely sure it is the exhaust, as the noise is regularly spaced rather than random.

It's like a pinging metallic noise. It still happens for awhile after engine is turned off.

Could it be your brake discs - mine are very noisy after a thrashing.

It sounds like the charcoal filter to me and it's perfectly normal.

The charcoal filter is the black canister with the pipes coming out of it located next to the washer filler tube.

Is it usually once every five seconds or so for the charcoal filter though? The vids I have seen before are more of s ticking rather than a slow ping.

All cars ting and ping when the engine is switched off. Its just cooling, when it gets cooler the 'pings' will be further apart

If it's not coming from the Charcoal filter then it's just metal parts contracting as they cool down, like the other guys say.
