the problem my golf r32 has developed recently is as follows, when startin the car from cold when i accelerate the engine note is very quiet and bit like an echo. this is really noticable as ive got a carbonio cai, also when this is happening the engine note does not change at 4k rpm when the flap in the inlet manifold opens up. acceleration is a bit poor as well and sometime going up the revs it kicks in and then is perfect after that and sounds spot on. also ive found that even in this cold weather ive got no cold start it just tats and idles at around 800rpm. it used to have the cold start even in summer when it was chilly morning.

also the sunroof has stopped working and i belive that the central convienience module has given up. as new motor and switch didnt sort it out and with that fault code i think that narrows it to that.

if anyone could help or confirm that the engie temp sensor is at fault for my poor engine sound and off par acceleration under 4k rpm, it would be much apriciated!
cheers gaz

A dodgy engine temp sender causes numerous different problems including ones you've mentioned.

Judging by the fact ures has shown as faulty i'd just replace it as its about 20quid and a 5 min job, so maybe it WILL cure it.

As for the sunroof, the fault code is stating the convenience unit so i'd say your right about that. If that codes shown i cant see it being the motor or switch or it may have thrown a different code.

Lets know how you get on tho if you do change the temp sender, be interested to know.

i looked on the ross tech website and put in the fault number and it mentioned the poor acceleration idling and things. mine has the green one so surprised its actually gone!
does a loda of cooland poor out when changing it. take it its just a circlip holding sensor in?

what is that for? nothing up with the aircon. unless the central convienience moduel is intergrated in the climate control.

just looked mine hasnt got the green temp sensor so im going to go get a green one and hope that sorts the problem out

You will lose very minimal coolant , just make sure the cars cold when you change it or you'll scald your fingers with hot coolant.

Yes I had that same problem when the temp sensor had gone. under 3.5k rpm it would seem sluggish, but then a kick in the back and all would be fine.

APS fitted my new sensor for about £30 (done along with my remap and millteks :top: )

When my sensor went u/s, it sounded if the exhaust was blowing and performance was down. I lost about 1.5l of coolant when I changed mine.
