Well I was looking to get an E60 M5, but thanks to the Norwegian taxman taking a chunk of cash from me, I found myself looking to either get finance for a car over £12k, or stay "sensible" and stay under that price, and stay debt free.

The M5 was out straight away as I wouldn't have kept one long anyway (was just an itch I need to scratch), so I was looking at an RS4.

Being sensible, I thought it better to avoid finance, as I have had enough of owing money out, and thought it was about time I stayed debt free (almost) for a bit.

Anyway, long story, but I had a test drive in a very nice 2007 R32 the other day and my mind was made up. Not the fastest or most powerful car I could have bought (or have owned), but the combination of looks, quality, overall abilities, and ......... THAT NOISE, had me swayed.

Picking it upon Monday
first mod kind of planned already, and it will be either a new head unit, or a set of alloys

Well I've got it, and initial impressions are:

Very quiet on the motorway
Pretty torquey
Sounds superb with the Milltek
Pulls well right through the rev range
It's a lot faster than my Freelander TD4
The kids along the street think it must have "nitro"

Very nice, and I reckon we will get along just fine

Thanks to Nick for all his help thus far with a new head unit - first mod sorted
