Will disconnecting my battery for a few hours cause any issues when I reconnect it?

And where is the battery located ?

In a Mk5 Golf, in the boot
In an Audi no clue!

I think it's in the boot in a 3.2 Audi A3 as well.

It will do no harm to disconnect for a few hours.

You shouldn't need the radio code but have it handy just incase.

When you start the car after reconnecting the battery the ABS and ESP lights may stay on but should go out after a short drive to recalibrate the steering angle sensor

On some vehicle if you leave the battery off for 24 hours it resets the ecu, this can be good because it puts the ecu into learning mode and learns how you drive. I know this works for a lot of cars including my navara.
Battery is normally in the front under the scuttle panel on audi's
