Alright guys recently I have noticed my paint is in shocking condition and I am thinking about trying to wet sand it. I really don't know if I'm brave enough to give it a go. What's people's opinions on trying this and had anyone any pointers for me if I get the guts to do it

If it aint working with a rotary it will have to be wet sand. I would suggets buying an old panel and pratice. Get a paint depth guage on yours also cos it will be a respray if you go to deep mate.

This is what I'm scared of lol. I was wanting to have it done for Sunday but that doesn't allow much room for practice

ive wet sanded my r theres a thread maybe a year ago, paper needs to be kept wet at all times and keep checking, honestly if you have never tried it before its a very skilled thing to try, especially on your R!! after refining with a polish must admit it looks like glass..
my tips defo get a paint gauge on it first, you never know it could have been done once before. keep the paper wet and check very very often. if you have never done it i would definately get a scrap paper and try it out so you know your levels,

good luck.

I've spent 2 days wet sanding the whole rear end of mine

didnt use a paint gauge...why?... because ive just had a respray so i know it hasnt been done before (except by the painter but not enough imo) but i know my limits

keep the sandpaper very wet, i reccomend using a sanding block so its even, i used 2500 grit

and rotary takes more skill and is easier to mess up compared to a da so just be very very careful
i tend to get most of it buffed out with a da, then go over it by hand just to make sure i havent missed anything

take the number plate off and do behind that first, if u mess up then no biggie

thanks mate, just don't put too much pressure on, and when you are near the end of sanding, put really light pressure on and do the whole area again to eliminate all scratches, or find some 3000 grit, but i managed without, dont rush it either, it takes..... forever
