Hi All,

Im new to this site as i have only owned my R32 for a fortnight (had a MK5 GTI before) and i have a problem that i could do with some help/advice.

A week after owning the car the engine managment light came on, had it read and it was saying it was ' running lean on both banks off idle', so i had the MAF meter changed and it seemed to solve the problem. 300 miles later it came back on, had it read again, same issue. When it starts from cold it sounds like it is running rough and when started from warm it nearly cuts out but manages to save its self, and genrally feels down on power.

Has anyone else come across this issue or point me in the right direction,

Thanks in advance

Matt

Could be your coolant temp sensor. It adjusts fuelling based on temp on engine. Can cause the issues you describe.

Secondly it could be a vacuum leak. Allowing more air in somewhere than what is passing through the MAF. Check the vac pipes at back of engine, and on the front variable inlet plunger.

Check your fuel trims, engine block 032 and report back the numbers in the first two boxes. I'm assuming you have vcds.

I'm in hudds, but work near J20 on m62.

Change the coolant sensor for a new green topped one from VW.

Where abouts is it located in the engine bay, not really had chance to look around it yet and work out what is where!

On the front of the engine. Look under the inlet manifold on the right hand side. It has a small multiplug going to it.

Right then, I have had this extensively looked in to and still no closer to resolving the problem. I have had a vw specialist look at it and I have got him baffled! He has even gone as far as downloading the log off the car and reading it manually but still no look! I'm open to any suggestions to what I can do to get this issue resolved!

Have you changed the coolant temp sensor?
What have you changed so far?

No not changed coolant temp sensor as looking at it via VAG com there does not appear to be a problem and don't want to just throw money at it willy nilly as I have a battery drain problem as well! Just replaced alternator and this hasn't fixed it so bit strapped for cash at the mo! Had a look about and know one else really appears to have had this fault and it's starting to annoy me!
