Bought my Golf R a few weeks ago and so far I'm loving it

Rising blue
3dr
DCC whatever that is lol
19" black talladega
DSG

Bought it completely standard and unmolested

I came from a mk4 Golf R32 on air ride with a full respray and mods everywhere you look but it was time to move onto something a bit newer

This is what she looked like the day i bought it

On day 2, it was time to get serious, and i spent the next 2 days detailing the car, completely removing swirl marks to the best of my ability

I washed, clayed, machine polished and corrected paintwork, sealed and waxed, treated rubbers and plastics and tyres, windows

By the time i was finished it was too dark to get photos haha so all i can show is this

Before

After

Quick 50/50

Mirror before

Mirror after

Did this all over but for some reason didn't get photos

Went over to VW Teeside today to have cruise control retrofitted
cost £125 in total for part + labour, i could have fitted it myself but didn't want to muck up the vcds part of it so let him do it
Whilst i was there i unlocked a few features, alarm blip, windows up when raining, live speedo on the display etc etc which i love by the way, i know mk7 come with this standard
Plus now i have the cruise control it allows me to have the extra features that come with the apr maps.
Whilst i was there, i had an epic drive to whitby and then home on some amazing roads! specifically the A169...wow

Anyway here are a few pics just for the hell of it, loving the new ride height of the h&r springs by the way, didn't think it would make much of a difference but it really does

Enjoy

Looks good Mike ! Personally I'm not a huge fan of Black Wheels though, it would look even better with Silver ones imo
this has been on my mind a while, and i need to decide what way I'm going with it before i paint things lol, i don't mind them black but they stand out more when silver, especially being the upgraded 19s

Yeah i agree with Neil, not a fan of black wheels personally, would be nice to see how it looks with silver, and also agree with Mick in that the MK4 stands out more, but it's early days like you said.. Is this getting air too or are you sticking with the springs??

P.S The logo on the mats is in a bit of a weird place, was that intentional or is that how they are on the originals??
i don't mind black wheels to be fair, I've always been against them etc as you can't see any detail etc but i am starting to get used to them, ill probably end up with new wheels in the future anyway lol, and I'm not sure what direction I'm taking the car in yet, only time will tell, i bought h&r to pass the time and get it looking better until i make my decision on coils vs air etc,

as for the mats It was intentional, on the mk5 mats the R logo is in a similar place

Yes mate, we have both R and R32 now, i didn't plan on buying one, but i went to go see it as it was local and ended up sealing the deal there and then, bit of a YOLO moment haha

Very nice Mike,

Just don't be air-riding this one lol..............looks leap years ahend of the MK4
Cheers Daz, now now don't be starting a old vs new war lol, some kids walked past earlier and commented saying *i still prefer the old one* they didn't realise i was there haha, but then again when i went to whitby some other kids shouted at me saying i like your golf mate, they both have their place

Bags aint that bad lol, they do a performance version for the mk6, not just a low kit like the mk4 *jus saying

Today i finally treated her to some new rubber

After recommendations i bought uniroyal rainsport 3, they are meant to be epic in the rain, rated A, and i can vouch for that on the test drive after, it totally transformed the car, tonnes of grip!

£408 form camskill, for a 19" tyre thats a bargain, but nowhere near budget shitness

Had a bit of a treat and had them fitted in a mercedes benz workshop

been looking at the uni royals or the good years--and fitting will be free by me
When i spoke to camskill over the phone they said they would reccomend good years over uniroyals if they were the same price, however the goodyears were an extra £160 ontop of the 400, and not worth the extra money apparently. Said these were most bang for buck
Fitting was free for me too
got a mate who is a mercedes tech

I used to run rainsport 2's on my gti.. Very good for money and yes wet grip is immense
Read a few reviews and a lot of people say rainsport 2 were good but 3 are miles better apparently, all this shark fin technology haha, they feel really sticky

looks awesome mate, cant wait till i pick mine up this weekend!

and i think ill be going for the digital track tested set up.

Reasons:

No smashing arches
No smashing sumps
No smashing splitters
No scratching the underneath of a 20k+ car
just better general every day use
Ahhhhhhhh im gonna cave in a minute lol, looks so good dropped!

One thing that always crosses my mind with that video though is, air beats coils in every test.... but how shit were the coils lol
