Bought my Golf R a few weeks ago and so far I'm loving it

Rising blue
3dr
DCC whatever that is lol
19" black talladega
DSG

Bought it completely standard and unmolested

I came from a mk4 Golf R32 on air ride with a full respray and mods everywhere you look but it was time to move onto something a bit newer

This is what she looked like the day i bought it

Ooh nice what you going for?
to start with I'm going straight for stage 2+ which should be roughly around 360-370bhp if i do it right

Turbo back exhaust - done
induction kit - will have it by the end of the week
high pressure fuel pump
stage 2+ map

would be rude not to

I don't like reading your posts, it makes me jealous

Lol, nice work on the R's mate, I've seen your threads a few times now, you have some amazing builds, keep it up

As for the bhp figures, yes that is low for stage 1, but its not stage 1
its completely standard so its actually high. meant to be 270, somehow adding an exhaust has put 17bhp on it hahaha, who knows
Ah...that's good for standard (unmapped). They're proper rockets when mapped, especially Stage 2+. Could also be an excuse to get a set of lightweight wheels for 'giving it some beans' days...

I'd say a Peron intercooler too if you want 360+. DSG map too if you're DSG. You'll love it at Stage2+

Yeah i will also get an intercooler, just not sure which one yet. I am DSG but I've been advised to get the engine mapped first and see how i go rather than mapping the dsg straight away, i drive in manual mode all the time anyway so don't think it would make much of a difference

latest update, bought a Forge FMIND16 Intake which is actually designed to work on the Mk5 GTI ed30, bought it already wrapped in gold heat reflective tape, thought i would give it a try for half the price of any other intake.

Fitted it and car drove ok, but seemed quiet and the actual diameter of the intake pipe seemed to be a bit too small for my liking
So took it off and sold it again, worth a shot anyway.

Then i went for the intake i was going to buy in the first place which was the revo
Not cheap but a massive improvement over the forge. It sounds really loud, driving along makes a massive suction noise and when you lift off sounds almost like a dump valve which is my inner chav coming out, and also you can make it flutter which i think is funny haha
Car seems to run smooth with it (not mapped yet) And it fits a lot better, utilising a bolt that mounts to the engine to make it secure unlike the forge which was a bit floppy.

Overall i love it
many tuners say its the best flowing intake for the mk6 r and i can see why, the tube diameter is much bigger

Also bought an Autotech HPFP that I'm yet to fit to the car. Reading the box it says to make sure your cam follower is up to scratch so ill probably change it anyway just to be on the safe side, think its about £30 for the actual part.

Ill post pics up when i get round to fitting that

Also i had a vibration when driving the car at 50-80 so had all the wheels balanced and didn't cure it, took them to a better garage who balanced them again after the first place did them all wrong, and they noticed that one of the tyres had a bump on it so as it rotates was causing vibrations

So bought another tyre and had that fitted which solved the problem

my tread on the existing tyres is almost new so no need to change the other side. And although they are cheap tyres, they grip very well! never slipped or made me feel unsafe, but because they are low profile and stretched and on camber, i don't want to be paying michelin or goodyear prices for tyres where I'm making them have a shorter life. Plus i don't drive stupid on the vossens so don't need anything fancy. Thats what my winter wheels are for

Haven't updated this in a while

Sooooooooo i went to see Niki at R-Tech and he spent a few hours on the car and managed 362.3 bhp and 374 ft lb at 4372rpm
He also mapped my dsg so it changes gear even quicker and its much more fun to drive in D mode, more responsive and not as sluggish
and launch control is just epic with the increased power

love it

I timed a launch on my phone and it was bang on 4 seconds to 60

I can't figure out how to embed youtube videos so that link will have to do lol

anyway, i can't remember if i mentioned above but i also changed the cam follower before i had the map done

Next i upgraded my seats

old

new

They are recaro wingbacks from a mk5 not a mk6, but mk6 are rare as rocking horse shit, so my plans are to get these retrimmed in the future, not that they need it because they are really good condition, but i know deep down its the wrong logo on the seat haha and i love a bit of alcantara

got them all wired in with resistors etc so everything works and no warning lights

probably my favourite thing about the car

its still missing an intercooler and WMI, then id would be a beast haha, but who knows what will happen this year
Id recommend r tech to anyone, i love that they tune cars properly and not just upload a generic map
