hi guys, got a few questions i need answering and because im new to all this i figured you guys would know more than me so any help would be much appreciated,

question 1)
my trip computer has started resetting itself often (every 2-3days) but when i bought the car it didnt reset for a good 2-3 weeks, why is this?

question 2) on the dash above where it says your avg mpg etc... in the top right hand corner when i first bought the car there was a red box with a 2 in and no it has changed to a 1 what is this and what does it mean?

question 3) my friend at work has recently scrapped a old mk3 golf and he had a k&n air filter fitted which he removed before scrapping, would the filter fit my car without any problems?

Answer to number 1 will be the same as 2.

On your wiper stalk there is a button which you can choose from 2 trips, 1 is current which resets after 2 hours of inactivity or 2 which is over the last however long. This will reset after 2k

3. I wouldn't bother, just buy one for the car

You may be right but you'll probably find that yours is resetting at 2k miles due to the elapsed time being 99H 59M.

Good point, my average is normally somewhere between 40 and 50 mph

Mine is a bit lower as there are no motorways, sits around 32-38mph

It doesn't really matter as you can easily jump between the 2 memories.

"1" is basically a journey memory whereas "2" is a long term memory.

Doesnt matter. Whichever you prefer, to reset either one hold the button for over 2 second

quick question about the air filter i know you said best to buy one for my car but he only wants £10 for it so would it fit? might just buy it and try and if not i've only lost a little amount

Yeah, i couldnt say yes or no for sure but i imagine it would fit. If its a long arm you might have trouble,
