First Service

Hello. I've read on VWVortex that people are getting their oil changed after the first few thousand miles. I think my MKV R32 is on the "extended service", its nearly done 3k miles now. Should I get the oil changed now or wait until the service indicator tells me?

Thanks. Jo

Cant answer that mate but,how does your R32 compare with your other cars?
The boxster sounded great and went really well, but it kept costing me huge money - wheel bearings, gaiters, warped brake discs etc. etc.

The best car I have ever had was probably my Mk4 Golf GTi which I had remapped by AmD (6 years ago now). They upped the power to 200 bhp and it has been sweet ever since. My brother now uses it and it runs great. Are AmD still the top guys for VAG remapping?

Leon Cupra R (225 bhp) was also nice, but its hard to get past the fact that at the end of the day its a SEAT (snobby I know!).

Most disappointing car was Impreza WRX. Probably because it wasn't an STi it was really sluggish, interior was crappy. Mk3 VR6 was a bit crappy too, brakes didn't work, horrible interior.

Car I loved most was Mk2 Golf GTi 16V with big bumpers. Looked great and went really well.

I am enjoying R32 so far, but I am struggling with the DSG, it doesn't seem to respond quick enough and has left me "high and dry" a couple of times in the middle of a busy junction. I think once I get used to it, it will rank highly on my list. :)

Yeh had that at first with my TT.
Hence the reason i'd never buy an auto box car, Takes all the fun and predictability away imho.
Generally its "good practice" to get the oil changed on a new engine after the first couple of thousand miles as with everything bedding in etc there can be quite a few flakes of metal gathering in the oil.
Have most people on here changed the oil after the first few thousand miles, or just waited for the service light to come on?
