Hit a badger last night at 30mph (I know it was 30mph because it happened on a speed camera)
I can not believe the damage it has caused, the front bumper, splitter, undertray, radiator and what ever else is behind is all hanging on the ground, insurance is now shut until Tuesday, so no car for me this bank holiday, anyone else hit a wild animal that is not green cross code trained

Years ago on the second day I had my gleaming new red 205 GTI, I hit a deer on the A9 just below Dunblane, heading back to Glasgow. Light, wing, bonnet and front valance needed attention. The deer ran off leaving me to report the hit. Went into the first village and reported it to a couple of policemen on the beat - they were looking at the blood on the broken light and I kid you not, one of them said "oh dear".

I've also hit a deer back in the rarly 90s. Caused a lot of damage and added a few bob onto my insurance too.

I've also hit a pheasant too but thankfully it only caused minimal damage.

Surely your insurance company will be open for emergency accidents 24/7! I've hit a badger with my 306 d turbo caused loads of damage pushed the radiators back and the little f*#€er just walked off, hit a dear with my 18t golf full front end knackered hit numerous pheasants in my gttdi smashing headlights and grills 1 even went through my bumper grill and bust the radiator/intercooler/oil cooler, wildlife round here is a nightmare lol

It looks bad but i would be looking at ways of fixing it without going through insurance as you'll be feeling the pain for a good few years on increased premiums, even if you have protected NCB

Yea agree, even if you protect NCB you have to declare that you've claimed in the past x years... Can't see it being worth it

Year or so ago in my Fiesta ST in Performance Blue I was driving back from machine polishing/waxing the car, looking spot on, every flake popping out in the sun!

Pheasant flies out of a bush, straight into the side of my car, clatters into the road leaving my blood boiling and face turning red.

Pulled over at the closest lay by, got out and walked to the passenger side with my eyes shut to inspect the damage from its claws, weight and anything else.

Not a mark on the car, must of just managed to hit the window and then it was game over for it, you don't understand how happy I was!

Left me a souvenir too..

Ill see what the quote is when they pick it up to access the damage but it looks like damage behind the radiator and the bar that goes to wheels looks bent, so I will see has I didn't bank on spending money out over next couple of months as its a bit tight and I need the car so depends on cost to weather insurance or private

Is it badger season or something? I think I've seen 7 dead badgers on the road in the past 2 days.

Pheasants are also a pain. They have to be the most stupid birds, they just don't seem to be bothered that there is a car heading straight for them at 60mph on a country lane...

The only wildlife I've hit is a pigeon (a few weeks ago, did no damage apart from a plume of feathers in the rear view mirror) and a deer in my Subaru Legacy a few years ago (which smashed a headlight and dented the bonnet. The deer survived better than my wallet..).
