My rant will start off with my R but I think this is life in general so bare with me. I know I should of listerned to advice of members on here but I didnt so feel free to say I told you so.

I cracked my bumper a few weeks ago so it needed painting after reversing into a shop door (yes my bad). I didnt go through insurance which I was tempted but for the sake of a few quid ill just pay out of my own pocket. 1 body shop said ill do it for £250 but it wont match 100% and was basically I dont really want to do it not even for cash and it would take up to 2 weeks. I thought stuff you then.

I can go with out the car a week but not 2. Other body shops dont open sats and im not booking time off work to get quotes. So I went down the mobile route. I didnt ask my brother inlaw who does it because his standards have gone down hill. He was really good but his work now looks like Stevie Wonders standards.

A bloke I used years ago who was good again was like not worth my time doing it so I used a mainstream mobile firm to do it. Price not bad and I said now if you want to do it dont do a Ray Charles on me coz I wont be happy. He said I understand so I booked him in and said half a days work. Booked half a day off and he came to my wifes shop to do it.

Midday comes its not finished so I said to the wife im going to work you know the score. I get home she says I didnt pay him and he said he bollocksd it up so call him. Ive looked at it and its better then before but theres a bit of orange peel.

Ok we make mistakes it was cold so I called him and ok when can you redo it? He was a bit not im bothered and ill call you tommorrow when im ready to do it? I said ok so wheres my key? He went oh I think its left on your drivers seat? Oh and its unlocked. I looked and it was there. WTF is wrong with people!!!! Im just going to leave it. Colour matchs and its ok.

As and when I sell the car if someone sees it they can knock me down. Its only if I tell people you can notice. Its just got me thinking about life really. When my R was playing up almost 2 years ago I took to VAG speclist and they made it worse and said dont know whats wrong with it?

Took it to someone else and found the problem and they said a part was broken and then super glued!!! Phoned up the first lot and emailed pics and they said ok out of the £500 you paid will refund you £75 take it or leave. I go to work to sell bathrooms and suppliers fook me about and I end up letting customers down but no cares.

Even one customer who mad and I said your right but the firm who make it dont give a shit so you what do want do? My wife owns a sign business and she gets the same. I rent out property and last month the tennant tried to get a TV aerial fitted and only coz I live next door I saw the aerial man pitch up and start to fit I said to him sorry you cant you need permission off me and the answer no.

Maybe cause he thought I was little he said F you im fitting it. We kicked off and I had to say if you dont go ill Fing kill you so he left in the end but it should never have to come to that. Last year builders knocked down the back of our flat while ill was out at work.

Builder got the wrong house!!!! my wife said put it right and they said F off!!! next day I had to take time off work and went to the right house they where doing work and say fix it. I got F you!!! so I grabed my baseball bat and went metal and said after I F up your van im wrapping this round your head!!! they fixed it that day. But I again why did it have to come to that?

My car I didnt lose my rag and even my wife said why are calm? I said I give up with people this is life. I just wont pay him. I now see why my boss begged me to stay at my job and more or less doubled my money coz im the only one who does his job.

This is why I like this forum becoz most of you brains on here and always answers not just on cars but life. Ive almost given up on the human race but this place keeps me sane most of the time. Im just telling myself its only a car theres more to life. Rant over.

A lot of it is this country, times are hard. No one has much money and those who do, fear spending. Taxes are high, the cost of living is through the roof, no business or job is safe. People take it out on each other and just don't care anymore. I'm owed thousands of pounds from various different companies and sole traders who haven't paid their accountancy bill. Almost all of them owe less than £400 and most of them less than £200. But what do you do, take 10 people each to a SCC? I don't have the time and they prob wont turn up/pay anyway. I'm having to take part payments in advance now which puts off some new customers (costing me money). I couldn't sleep knowing I owed people money... These financial times are almost entirely caused by the previous government and I do believe the cons are doing the right thing (not that I voted cons or lab)

How do I cope? Well two things

1. This country is probably the best country in the world to live in. No earthquakes, severe tornadoes, volcanoes, tsunamis (sort of). We're an island so it's almost impossible to invade us (WWII), we're one of only 4 nations who can launch a nuclear strike from anywhere in the world (so no one in their right mind would nuke us as they'd be nuked right back). We live in a Democracy, we have the best laws/legal system in the world, our language is spoken by almost the entire world, we have free health care, we have the best gun laws possible, we're a first world country which always has food and drink, the government never bombs us or sends troops in when we riot, hell they won't even shoot us with water pistols... the list is endless. We're not perfect, far from it, but I can't think of a better country to live in.

2. Despite times being hard these are some of the best... If you were born between 1874 and 1945 there was a good chance you'd have been killed or injured in WWI or WWII and if not would have lived in fear for possibly 10 years of your life. Britain saving the world virtually bankrupted us so you'd have probably been on rations or at least lived in hard times, possibly away from your family. It also wasn't many years ago that if you weren't white you'd have been treated like shit by everyone. Women couldn't vote or even work, they basically had no voice and were there to look pretty, cook, clean and be available for sex (not sure we've made progress there lmfao). We can cure all sorts of diseases that killed hundreds of millions (Bubonic plague, Spanish flu etc) if you had a headache a few hundred years ago they took a hammer and chisel and made a hole in your skull to let the demons out (which in London would have killed you), religion has set medicine back thousands of years but times have changed. Antibiotics and pain killers etc make life much easier. Someone terminally I'll can be pumped full of drugs to eliminate suffering, 100 years ago children died of whooping cough in this country, it really is endless. Britain was the first country to bring in the age of consent (in fact Britain was the first to do almost everything, we made the world what it is today and I'm proud of that) There's no country more successful than Great Britain and that's a fact.

I know life's shit but I can't think of a better country or century to live in? That doesn't help you or I physically but it helps me mentally, tomorrow night I'm going to be watching England play football in HD whilst I drink beer and eat whatever food I fancy, sat on a comfy chair with my heating on and blaming the ref because he's foreign. I'm better off than 98% maybe even 99% of the human race. Then there's species, but lets not get into that...

I'm not having a dig and I know it's not what you want to hear, but it helps me and I hope it helps you. Life is fkin shit, as Miq says, you're born, you live for a bit and then if you're lucky you die peacefully BUT there's no better time or place to do it...

Just remember you're a good bloke and better than them and hopefully when your time comes you'll go knowing you were the better man, no amount of money can buy that

I agree mate, no one gives a f*** about anything anymore but themselves... My insurance company are having me go around getting quotes and have demanded i pay the excess first before my car fixed, even though some other C*** hit it while it was parked and is caught on cctv. There excuse is what if he disputes it, im like it is on CCTV!!! Plus now whether i am at non fault or not it will impact my insurance??

This world is truly messed up....

Well I'm a bit happier now since I got home. Had a right touch!!! Got some ppi money off Barclays for £485 plus I'm not paying that bloke so not bad. That can pay for my tyres now

I think L_O_Z has put it perfectly, and brought a lot of important points to light.. Sure we all have bad days, who doesn't? Show me a person who says they don't ever get stressed at all and i'll show you a liar!! You're not on your own fella, it happens to the best of us, and usually on a regular basis..

And yes there are a lot of muppets out there who test our patience, we shouldn't have to put up with them but unfortunately we're not here alone, we have to share this big ol' space with sometimes "less than considerate" people.. The best thing to do is learn how to deal with them, and the good thing is, we can walk away from them if that doesn't go to plan.. Sometimes that's often the best thing to do..

Life is full of challenges and situations and it's how you adapt and deal with them that matters.. But as long as we all have our health and a good standard of living, then we're doing fine and shouldn't have much to worry about. Everything else is purely superficial.. My point is, we could be doing a lot worse...

Raiden I feel for ya dude that initial post sounded pretty shit and generally speaking society has a lot to answer for. The world has evolved in many ways for the better but also for the worse as well. Sometimes I want to take Mr 9-Iron out and teach people a lesson but really it won't make a blind bit of difference.

I've tried to take a more holistic view to life now. I have a job that pays for a decent life and I've got my health and that is a hell of a lot more than most. Doesn't always work but it is starting to more often than not.
