I thought this, and did he rev it hard to create like a gyro effect? if that's the correct term ?Didn't seem to be carrying much speed.... cool!

Thats what i was basing it on RC cars, surely just a grander scale no?Yeah that would be the term, sure I have seen RC cars controlling their midair trajectories using revs.
