I have some front discs (mk4) and they are dimpled, they are 2 piece with the alloy centres and are stamped with the VW badge and have the correct VW part number on them. Does anyone know are these a superseded part or did VW supply some cars with dimpled discs as all the ones I have seen before haven't been dimpled.

I wondered that, are there places that do that because they have been professionally done if not original as the pattern is symmetrical etc.

There is a company that take the OEM disc re-drill (and also do a slotted version too) mk4 R32 discs, I think it was ECS, but I may be wrong.

you can find lots of info about those discs on the VWvortex.com forum (mk4 R32 forum)

Had a look on ecs and they appear to only do drilled and grooved, these are only dimpled. Have they offered just dimpled in the past or does anyone have any other ideas? If they were ecs discs I take it they just drill the standard rotors and don't change them?
