just renewed the car at £320 for me and the wife.

after all the horror stories of cars been hit etc, and how far ive rode my luck and not been hit for years, im thinking of getting gap insurance as the R books at about £6k but wld cost about £8-9k to replace.

any ideas if this is worth it/good idea/where to go and what to pay?

I always thought gap insurance was available on new cars?

that is crazy, that is like paying a third of my insurance again on top of the actual insurance.

Its down to you to argue the fact that the car was worth more than 6k. Keep photos and ensure you have a log of all the work done to the car since you've kept it to argue should the worst happen.

Gap insurance in my eyes is a complete utter farce.

You probably could find GAP cover for the car but what I think might be more appropriate and cost effective is Agreed Value.
It costs vastly less than GAP and means you can agree the current value up front.

Best,
Nick
