Hello guys,
Thought it maybe would be handy for some of you guys to show what parts it took me to overhaul my suspension of my Golf 5 R32. I wil put all the part numbers in here later.
I went with mostly OE/OEM parts. As most of you know Sachs makes a lot of the original parts like the shocks. For the arms i went with Meyle-HD and Lemförder if Meyle did not have them. VW already could not supply me with a lot of parts anymore, like shocks and springs, so i had no choice anyway.
Good thing with Meyle-HD is that most of these parts come with new bolts.
For the front top mounts and bearings i went with VW OE parts. I advise to not buy the bearings from VW because it says "ROLLAX" on the side of them, so i would imagine it is cheaper to buy them directly from ROLLAX instead.
I got Lesjöfors springs, which i think are OEM (They specifically say R32 on the label too).
Check if you have the oval bump stops in the rear of your R32, because if you have round ones you need different bump stops and top mounts for the rear. Bump stops from VW are stupid expensive for a piece of rubber, so my advice is get them from Sachs or a other good brand.
The big plastic bag also contains a lot of various bolts i ordered from VW since a lot of bolts are probably nice and crusty.
You might see that i am missing some arms for in the back. Those have been replaced already, and i actually ended up sending the lemförder rear arms back because those were already replaced and i forgot. So only 2/4 arms in the rear had to be replaced. Also the anti roll bar end links and anti roll bar rubbers have been replaced already.
Also in the front i do not have tie rod ends and ball joints and anti roll bar links. These have also been replaced already.
For any questions, feel free to reply this tread.
Parts list (edit):
- Front arms:
Meyle 116 050 0032/HD
Meyle 116 050 0033/HD
I had Powerflex bushes installed in my front arms, however these are way to noisy for my liking. So i went with Meyle Heavy Duty arms.
- Front shocks
Sachs 317 578
(VW: 1T0 413 031 GK)
Should be the original shocks that VW used.
- Front shocks dust boots and bump stop set
Sachs 900 136
These fit the shocks well because they are of the same brand. Check beforehand if the bumpstops are the right ones!
- Front top mount
OE VW 1K0 412 331 B
Went with orignal ones because i did not want to take gambles with those, i did not know who makes them for VW.
-Front mount bearings
OE VW 6N0 412 249 E
These are made by ROLLAX, my advice: get them from ROLLAX then
-Front springs
Lesjöfors 4095096
(VW: 1K0 411 105 JD)
I think these are OEM, they are R32 specific springs. If you do not want to lower your R32 just like me, go for these. VW does not supply original springs anymore, it was a pain in the ass for me to find the correct ones.
- Rear shocks
Sachs 310 950
(VW: 1K0 513 029 HL)
These are the original shocks just like the front ones.
- Rear shocks dust boots and bump stop set
Sachs 900 137
Fits nicely. Make sure to check first if you have oval or round bump stops. This set contains the oval ones. Even VW said i needed the round ones, but i needed oval ones.
- Rear top mounts
Sachs 802 339
(VW: 1K0 513 353 H)
Same as for bump stops, check wether you need oval or round. These are for oval.
- Shock absorber ring
FEBI 23520
(VW: 1K0 513 167)
Nothing fancy. They are simple products so no need to get expensive here.
- Rear springs
Lesjöfors 4295091
(VW: 1K0 511 115 GE)
Same story as for the front springs.
- Rear spring seat (top)
OE VW 1K0 512 149 B
These are the rubbers that the spring will seat into. Not expansive from VW so got original ones. These go on TOP of the spring.
- Rear spring seat (under)
OE VW 1K0 512 297 D
These are the rubbers that the spring seat into. This time the rubbers that lie under the spring and seat into the arm. Also not expansive from VW.
- Rear control arms
Meyle 116 050 0079/S
These are the same for both sides. They come with new bolts which is very nice.
NOTE: you will have to fit the bracket of the xenon sensor some way. It comes with holes for it, but you got to fasten it with some new bolts.
- Rear trailing arms
Meyle 116 050 0080/HD
Meyle 116 050 0081/HD
Went with the Heavy Duty version. Should be even better quality. Also comes with new bolts.
