Hello guys,

I recently faced an issue with my mk5 r32 haldex. I got it serviced recently and after around 1000kms, i was driving around my street and all of a sudden i heard noise like something stopping the car or dragging... physical i couldn't see anything..no oil leak nothing. I got my car towed to mechanic instead of driving, on the hoist, i was able to see the noise wqs coming from rear wheels when moving. Mechanic told me he needs to investigate as it could rear differential...later he told me that he found the haldex filter was jammed which caused it, n he is the same mechanic who recently did service for my haldex.

He changed the filter n reserviced the haldex and so far no issues but i m concerned what could have caused it as he told me filter was completely jammed.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Car has only done 100k kms

Weird, not an expert but doesnt sound right to me. Is this mechanic experienced with VWs?
Personally I feel this bloke ripped you off. If he did the service the filter should be new, not blocked. Ive got a car with same kms, did the haldex service myself and the old filter and oil were not bad at all, so 1000km is nothing!
If hes not lying ,perhaps he put diff oil in the haldex the first time, which is easy to do and could screw up some things. Does your receipt mention haldex fluid?
Make sure the haldex is actually engaging, there should be very mininal front wheel spinning when taking off hard with traction off, even on a wet road.
