OK so the time has arrived for my first service since getting my .:R and I have a coupple of options -

1. Local stealer,
2. Local specialist with 17years at VW and former master techie.

Which would you opt for and what regime is best? Also any tips on what oil etc should I be asking them to use? As always all help is greatly received by this not so mechanically minded buffoon :dontknow:

Mate, doesn't matter if its still in warrenty, the new block excemption law means that as long as genuine parts are used the warrenty stays the same. I can highly reconmend APS, and you will get the best service and price. Say jimmy sent you:D

Right, here goes my rant! :argh:
Go to the specialist, ask them to use genuine parts, then your warrantee is still valid as Jimmy says.
The sticking point is the oil. VW tried to charge me £110 for oil, last time it was in for a service! Yes that's right £110! :vroam: For oil. Once i'd explained that i didn't want it in a platinum bottle, they brought it down to £80, which is still an apsolute rip off!
The reason for this is that the VR uses more than 5L of oil, always have, (about 5.5L i think) but they don't sell they're fancy quantum stuff in 1L bottles, so you have to pay for 10L! :2up:
My advice, find at least one bottle of this quantum stuff on ebay. Take it to the speciallists. As i discovered VW are VERY anal :nurse: about the oil in an R32, so if it is under warrantee, use quantum.

Mine's now due it's first service under my ownership (Mk IV with 30k).

Phoned the local VW dealer for a base price for a 30k and was quoted £85. Nearly fell over as my last few cars have been Alfas and minor services were always £250 plus!

Also quoted £112 for getting the Haldex oil/filters done as I can't yet confirm that they were done at the 20k (before I had the car).
